COVID-19, caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on the 11th of March 2020, leading to some form of lockdown across almost all countries of the world. The extent of the global pandemic due to COVID-19 has a significant impact on our lives that must be studied carefully to combat it. This study highlights the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown on crucial aspects of daily life globally, including; Food security, Global economy, Education, Tourism, hospitality, sports and leisure, Gender Relation, Domestic Violence/Abuse, Mental Health and Environmental air pollution through a systematic search of the literature. The COVID-19 global lockdown was initiated to stem the spread of the virus and 'flatten the curve' of the pandemic. However, the impact of the lockdown has had far-reaching effects in different strata of life, including; changes in the accessibility and structure of education delivery to students, food insecurity as a result of unavailability and fluctuation in prices, the depression of the global economy, increase in mental health challenges, wellbeing and quality of life amongst others. This review article highlights the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown across the globe. As the global lockdown is being lifted in a phased manner in various countries of the world, it is necessary to explore its impacts to understand its consequences comprehensively. This will guide future decisions that will be made in a possible future wave of the COVID-19 pandemic or other global disease outbreak.

Research background: The outbreak and spread of COVID-19 brought disastrous influences to the development of human society, especially the development of economy. Purpose of the article: Considering that knowing about the situations of the existing studies about COVID-19 and economy is not only helpful to understand the research progress and the connections between COVID-19 and economy, but also provides effective suggestions for fighting against COVID-19 and protecting economy, this paper analyzes the existing studies on COVID-19 and economy from the perspective of bibliometrics. Methods: Firstly, the discussion starts from the statistical analysis, in which the basic distributions of the studies on different countries/regions, different publication sources, different publication years, etc., are presented. Then, the paper shows the cooperation situations of the researchers from analyzing the related citation networks, co-citation networks and cooperation networks. Further, the theme analysis of the related studies is presented, in which the related co-occurrence networks are shown, and then the detailed analyses of the studies are introduced. Based on these analyses, the discussions about future research are presented, and finally we draw a conclusion. Findings & value added: The analyses not only present the basic situation on the research about COVID-19 and Economy, but also show the future research trends, which can provide meaningful research expectations. © 2021 Nicolaus Copernicus University.

The research on COVID-19 and economy from 2019 to 2020: analysis from the perspective of bibliometrics

Scientific reports notified that the pandemic caused by the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has raised an unprecedented mental health emergency worldwide. Abrupt changes in daily routine, environmental constraints, adopted home confinement measures, and uncertainty about a date for returning to usual activities can potentially affect mental health and sports activities in athletes. Hence, we designed a cross-sectional study with a within-subjects design to investigate the impact of the pandemic on mental health, mood states, and life satisfaction of elite athletes. During the three phases of home confinement (April 14-24, n = 525), reopening (May 9-19, n = 464), and current semi-lockdown (July 20-31, n = 428), elite athletes voluntarily responded to an online survey. The self-report questionnaire was prepared to collect demographic and epidemiological variables of interest and the COVID-19-related information. All participants also completed the Profile of Mood State (POMS), General Health Questionnaire-28 (GHQ-28), and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). The main result is that the training rate, mental health, life satisfaction, and positive mood have decreased during the home confinement period as compared with the reopening and semi-lockdown phases. However, the need for psychosocial services has increased during the pandemic period. The present study provides the first preliminary evidence that home confinement conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic might have negatively influenced elite athlete's mood state, mental health, and life satisfaction, as well as training rates. Monitoring the psychological parameters of elite athletes and developing strategies to improve their mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic should be on the agenda. Next studies, therefore, seem reasonable to focus on active interventions for athletes during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Mental Health Status, Life Satisfaction, and Mood State of Elite Athletes During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Follow-Up Study in the Phases of Home Confinement, Reopening, and Semi-Lockdown Condition

Die COVID-19-Pandemie hat unter anderem auch erheblichen Auswirkungen auf die wirtschaftliche Situation des Sports im Allgemeinen und dem professionellen Fusball im Besonderen. Dieser Beitrag macht sich zur Aufgabe, die wesentlichen Auswirkungen der Pandemie auf den Profifusball in Deutschland zu beleuchten. Hierzu werden die allgemeinen Auswirkungen der Pandemie auf den Sport kurz umrissen, um anschliesend die Konsequenzen fur den deutschen Profifusball auszuleuchten. Dabei wird ausgehend von den Rahmenbedingungen und Besonderheiten der Teamsportindustrie auf mogliche Losungswege, wie mit etwaig entstehenden Problemen aufgrund der Pandemie umgegangen werden kann, eingegangen. Im Ergebnis sehen die Autoren klare Vorteile fur brancheninterne Losungen wie einen Solidarfonds oder Masnahmen der Selbstregulierung gegenuber moglicherweise angestrebten staatlichen Subventionierungen.

Sportökonomische Auswirkungen der COVID-19-Pandemie am Beispiel der Fußball-Bundesligen

Neue Perspektiven ökonomischer Sportforschung

Seit einigen Jahren steigt die Dominanz weniger Vereine im deutschen Fusball. Wiederholte Gewinne der Meisterschaften in der Fusball-Bundesliga und die Beteiligung an Spielen auf europaischer Ebene versetzen diese Vereine finanziell in die Lage, dauerhaft in ihre Spieler-Kader zu investieren. Eine bedeutende Einnahmequelle ist dabei die Vermarktung der Fernsehrechte. Dadurch, dass diese in der Bundesliga zentral durchgefuhrt wird, soll die finanzielle Ausstattung der Vereine angeglichen werden. Der Autor kommt allerdings zu dem Schluss, dass dies nicht gelingt und die Zentralvermarktung im offentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunk sogar sportpolitisch schadlich ist. Zudem liegt eine wettbewerbsverfalschende Subventionierung vor.
