The embodiment of the invention provides a network processor and a network data stacking processing method. The processor comprises a slave computer, a central control unit and a host computer. The slave machine comprises a functional unit array module which is used for processing a network data packet and is composed of a plurality of functional units; a control module which is used for decodingthe long instruction, sending each sub-instruction obtained by decoding to the corresponding functional unit and controlling the sequence of executing the sub-instructions by each functional unit; each functional unit is provided with a corresponding configuration register; a set of configuration vectors is stored in the configuration register; wherein corresponding configuration information is stored in each configuration vector, one set of configuration vectors corresponds to one type of network protocol, and in a processor configuration loading period, each functional unit selects the corresponding configuration vector according to the sub-instruction, reads the configuration information and then loads the configuration information into the corresponding configuration information register. Through the reconfigurable design of the instruction, the instruction complexity is reduced, programming is easy, and multiple network protocols are supported.

In one embodiment, a processor includes: an accelerator associated with a first address space; a core associated with a second address space and including an alternate address space configuration register to store configuration information to enable the core to execute instructions from the first address space; and a control logic to configure the core based in part on information in the alternate address space configuration register.
