Photovoltaic Cycling to-and-fro Actuation of a Water-Microdroplet for Automatic Repeatable Solute Acquisition on Oil-Infused Hydrophobic LN:Fe Surface
Xiong Zhang,E. R. Mugisha,Yuhang Mi,Xiaohu Liu,Mengtong Wang,Zuoxuan Gao,Kaifang Gao,Lihong Shi,Hongjian Chen,Wenbo Yan +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a cycling to-and-fro actuation of a cycled to and fro actuation mechanism was used to acquire solute from sources without external aids.

Photovoltaic splitting of water microdroplets on a y-cut LiNbO3:Fe crystal coated with oil-infused hydrophobic insulating layers.
Xiong Zhang,Kaifang Gao,Zuoxuan Gao,Zan Zhitao,Lihong Shi,Xiaohu Liu,Mengtong Wang,Hongjian Chen,Wenbo Yan +8 more
TL;DR: The temporal evolution of the microdroplet contact angle upon a central illumination and the distinct behaviors of two sub-droplets during a following boundary illumination reveal that both electrowetting and electroosmotic effects induced by the dipolar photovoltaic potential on the substrate contribute to the water microdroplets splitting.

3D Photovoltaic Router of Water Microdroplets Aiming at Free-Space Microfluidic Transportation.
Yuhang Mi,Xiaohu Liu,Zuoxuan Gao,Mengtong Wang,Lihong Shi,Xiong Zhang,Kaifang Gao,E. R. Mugisha,Wenbo Yan +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, a 3D photovoltaic water-microdroplet router based on a superhydrophobic LiNbO3:Fe crystal is reported, which employs the repulsive electrostatic force induced by the positive photvoltaic charges generated under focused laser illumination and permits traveling microdroplets to be routed in both in-plane and out-of-plane ways.

Efficient Surfactant‐Mediated Photovoltaic Manipulation of fL‐Scale Aqueous Microdroplets for Diverse Optofluidic Applications on LiNbO3 Platform
Zuoxuan Gao,Jing Ming Yan,Lihong Shi,Xiaohu Liu,Mengtong Wang,Chenyu Li,Zechao Huai,Chengde Wang,Xuan Wang,Lina Zhang,Wen Bo Yan +10 more
TL;DR: Surfactant-mediated photovoltaic manipulation enables the stable and swift manipulation of femtoliter-scale aqueous microdroplets using laser in oil media.

Towards biochemical microreactor: Nonlocal photovoltaic actuation of aqueous microdroplets in oil-infused PDMS channels based on LiNbO3: Fe crystal
TL;DR: In this paper, photovoltaic actuation of aqueous microdroplets is demonstrated inside the oil-infused PDMS channels fabricated on a c-cut LiNbO3:Fe (LN:Fe) substrate.
