Galanin and its receptors: a novel strategy for appetite control and obesity therapy.
TL;DR: The aim of this review is to provide up-to-date knowledge concerning the roles of central and peripheral galanin as well as its receptors in the regulation of metabolism, obesity and appetite.

Galanin peptide family as a modulating target for contribution to metabolic syndrome.
TL;DR: This study reviews the updated evidences of the effect that the galanin peptide family has on the clustering of MetS components, including obesity, dyslipidemia, insulin resistance and hypertension.

Galanin peptide family regulation of glucose metabolism
TL;DR: The metabolic effect of galanin peptide family is summarized and highlighted and its glucoregulatory action is discussed and the pharmacological value of Galanin pathway activiation for the treatment of glucose intolerance and type 2 diabetes mellitus is discussed.

Treatment with celastrol protects against obesity through suppression of galanin-induced fat intake and activation of PGC-1α/GLUT4 axis-mediated glucose consumption.
TL;DR: The present findings showed that Celastrol suppresses fat intake, and leads to weight loss by inhibiting galanin and its receptor expression in the hypothalamus of mice fed a high-fat diet, and the weight-lowering effects of celastrol are driven by decreased galan in-induced food consumption.

Circulating galanin levels are increased in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus
TL;DR: Circulating galanin levels appear to be related to the changes of blood glucose in GDM, and may represent a physiological adaptation to the rise of glucose associated with GDM.
