Transparent, Live Migration of a Software-Defined Network
Soudeh Ghorbani,Cole Schlesinger,Matthew Monaco,Eric Keller,Matthew Caesar,Jennifer Rexford,David Walker +6 more
- 03 Nov 2014
TL;DR: Using a formal model, it is proved that migration under LIME is transparent to applications, i.e., any execution of the controller and end-host applications during migration is a completely valid execution that could have taken place in a migration-free setting.
Applying operating system principles to SDN controller design
Matthew Monaco,Oliver Michel,Eric Keller +2 more
- 21 Nov 2013
TL;DR: This paper introduces yanc, a controller platform for software-defined networks which exposes the network configuration and state as a file system, enabling user and system applications to interact through standard file I/O, and to easily take advantage of the tools available on the host operating system.
WASP: a software-defined communication layer for hybrid wireless networks
Murad Kaplan,Chenyu Zheng,Matthew Monaco,Eric Keller,Douglas Sicker +4 more
- 20 Oct 2014
TL;DR: WASP is introduced, a general communication layer for hybrid wireless networks where multiple networks are used to complement each other and shows that a content distribution scheme using WASP on smart phones with cellular data plans significantly offloads bandwidth from the cellular infrastructure, and in turn reduces expensive data usage and energy usage.

Supporting CS education via virtualization and packages: tools for successfully accommodating "bring-your-own-device" at scale
Andy Sayler,Dirk Grunwald,John Black,Elizabeth K. White,Matthew Monaco +4 more
- 05 Mar 2014
TL;DR: The system has proven very effective in addressing the student BYOD challenge in a manageable, cost-efficient, and easy-to-use manner.

yanc: Yet Another Network Controller
Matthew Monaco,Eric Keller +1 more
- 01 Jan 2013
TL;DR: This poster presents yanc, a software-defined networking controller which allows for applications to take a wide variety of forms by relying heavily on existing operating system (Linux) features, and discusses how yanc can be used to perform the variety of network tasks needed by network admins.
