Cooled laser fiber for improved thermal therapy
Ashok Gowda,Roger J. McNichols,Marc Gelnett,Matthew C. Fox +3 more
- 05 Nov 2004
TL;DR: In this article, the disclosure is directed to an integrated apparatus for delivering energy to a tissue, which included a housing having a distal end and a tubular structure located within the housing forming a first annulus between the tubular structures and the housing.

Raman active components of skin cancer
Xu Feng,Austin J. Moy,Hieu T. M. Nguyen,Jason Zhang,Matthew C. Fox,Katherine R. Sebastian,Jason S. Reichenberg,Mia K. Markey,James W. Tunnell +8 more
TL;DR: The first Raman biophysical model applied to in vivo skin cancer screening data is proposed and reveals the biochemical and structural makeup of normal, nonmelanoma and melanoma skin cancers, and precancers and paves the way for future development of this approach to noninvasive skin cancer diagnosis.

Preclinical Assessment of a 980-nm Diode Laser Ablation System in a Large Animal Tumor Model
Kamran Ahrar,Ashok Gowda,Sanaz Javadi,Agatha Borne,Matthew C. Fox,Roger J. McNichols,Judy Ahrar,Clifton Stephens,Jason Stafford +8 more
TL;DR: A well circumscribed ablation zone with sharp boundaries between thermally ablated tumor in the center surrounded by viable tumor tissue is confirmed and the new 980-nm diode laser and internally cooled applicator effectively create large ellipsoid thermal ablations in less than 3 minutes.

Raman biophysical markers in skin cancer diagnosis.
Xu Feng,Austin J. Moy,Hieu T. M. Nguyen,Yao Zhang,Jason Zhang,Matthew C. Fox,Katherine R. Sebastian,Jason S. Reichenberg,Mia K. Markey,James W. Tunnell +9 more
TL;DR: The first demonstration of in vivo melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancer detection based on an inverse biophysical skin cancer model is presented, demonstrating the ability of RS to reveal the biophysical basis for accurate diagnosis of different skin cancers.
