PGC1A regulates the IRS1:IRS2 ratio during fasting to influence hepatic metabolism downstream of insulin.
Aurèle Besse-Patin,Stewart Jeromson,Stewart Jeromson,Philipa Levesque-Damphousse,Blandine Secco,Mathieu Laplante,Jennifer L. Estall +6 more
TL;DR: PGC1A controls the hepatic ratio of Insulin Receptor Substrates 1 (IRS1) and IRS2 expression, crucial for defining the precise insulin signal in hepatocytes to respond to fasting and feeding, and is key for insulin-mediated suppression of hepatic glucose production.

The Hepatokine TSK does not affect brown fat thermogenic capacity, body weight gain, and glucose homeostasis.
Mathilde Mouchiroud,Étienne Camiré,Manal Aldow,Alexandre Caron,Éric Jubinville,Laurie Turcotte,Inés Kaci,Marie Josée Beaulieu,Christian Roy,Sébastien M. Labbé,Thibault V. Varin,Yves Gélinas,Jennifer Lamothe,Jocelyn Trottier,Patricia L. Mitchell,Frédéric Guénard,William T. Festuccia,Philippe Joubert,Christopher F. Rose,Constantine J. Karvellas,Olivier Barbier,Mathieu C. Morissette,André Marette,Mathieu Laplante +23 more
TL;DR: It is found that TSK-null mice were not protected against the development of obesity and did not show improvement in glucose tolerance, and the overexpression of TSK failed to modulate thermogenesis, body weight gain, and glucose homeostasis in mice.

Pharmacological activation of liver X receptor during cigarette smoke exposure adversely affects alveolar macrophages and pulmonary surfactant homeostasis
Éric Jubinville,Joanie Routhier,Michaël Maranda-Robitaille,Marie Pineault,Nadia Milad,Maude Talbot,Marie-Josée Beaulieu,Sophie Aubin,Marie-Ève Paré,Mathieu Laplante,Mathieu C. Morissette +10 more
TL;DR: This study shows that hyperactivation of LXR and the associated lipid capture/export mechanisms only have minor pulmonary effects on the normal lung, however, in the context of cigarette smoke exposure, hyperactivationof LXR has dramatic adverse effects, once again showing the central role of lipid homeostasis in the pulmonary response to cigarette smoke Exposure.
HNF4α is a novel regulator of intestinal glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide.
Romain Girard,Mathieu Darsigny,Christine Jones,Faiza Maloum-Rami,Yves Gélinas,André C. Carpentier,Mathieu Laplante,Nathalie Perreault,François Boudreau +8 more
TL;DR: Findings point to a novel regulatory role between intestinal HNF4α and GIP with possible functional impact on bone density and changes in GIP production did not impact nutrition or energy metabolism under normal physiology but led to a reduction of bone area and mineral content.
Lung cancer susceptibility genetic variants modulate HOXB2 expression in the lung.
Alisson Clemenceau,Olivier Boucherat,Kim Landry-Truchon,Maxime Lamontagne,Sabrina Biardel,Philippe Joubert,Stéphane Gobeil,Blandine Secco,Mathieu Laplante,Mathieu C. Morissette,Ma'en Obeidat,Wim Timens,Lucie Jeannotte,Yohan Bossé +13 more
TL;DR: The HOXB2 was the top eQTL-regulated gene with several polymorphisms associated with its mRNA expression levels in lung tissue, and the lung cancer SNP rs10853100 was associated with lower HOxB2 expression levels.
