TL;DR: In preclinical models, treatment with the MFF peptidomimetic was well-tolerated and demonstrated anticancer activity in patient-derived xenografts, primary breast and lung adenocarcinoma 3D organoids and glioblastoma neurospheres, identified as a novel regulator of mitochondrial cell death and an actionable therapeutic target in cancer.

Claudia Bareggi,Dario Consonni,Barbara Galassi,Donatella Gambini,Elisa Locatelli,Roberto Visintin,Letterio Runza,Massimo Giroda,Maria Silvia Sfondrini,Francesco Onida,M. Tomirotti +10 more
TL;DR: According to the analysis, patients with uncommon breast malignancies are often diagnosed at an early stage, resulting in a good prognosis with standard treatment, and those with rare histotypes showed a significantly lower risk of recurrence.
Retained PTEN Expression Preferentially Identifies Mismatch Repair-Proficient Breast Cancers
Nicola Fusco,Letterio Runza,Giulia Ercoli,Donatella Gambini,Concetta Blundo,Luca Despini,Massimo Giroda,Silvano Bosari +7 more
TL;DR: The findings broaden the understanding of the biology underpinning breast cancer, suggesting that MMR alterations are likely to be independent of PTEN status in the majority of luminal B-like breast cancers and that, in a way akin to endometrial carcinoma, MMR deficiency could play a part in the development ofPTEN alterations in luminal A-like and triple negative breast cancers.
