Systematic Pelvic Lymphadenectomy vs No Lymphadenectomy in Early-Stage Endometrial Carcinoma: Randomized Clinical Trial
Pierluigi Benedetti Panici,Stefano Basile,Francesco Maneschi,Andrea Lissoni,Mauro Signorelli,Giovanni Scambia,Roberto Angioli,Saverio Tateo,Giorgia Mangili,Dionyssios Katsaros,Gaetano Garozzo,Elio Campagnutta,Nicoletta Donadello,Stefano Greggi,Mauro Melpignano,Francesco Raspagliesi,Nicola Ragni,Gennaro Cormio,Roberto Grassi,Massimo Franchi,Diana Giannarelli,Roldano Fossati,Valter Torri,M. Amoroso,Clara Crocè,Costantino Mangioni +25 more
TL;DR: Although systematic pelvic lymphadenectomy statistically significantly improved surgical staging, it did not improve disease-free or overall survival.
Impact of Adjuvant Chemotherapy and Surgical Staging in Early-Stage Ovarian Carcinoma: European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer–Adjuvant ChemoTherapy in Ovarian Neoplasm Trial
J. Baptist Trimbos,Ignace Vergote,Giorgio Bolis,Jan B. Vermorken,Constantino Mangioni,Caterina Madronal,Massimo Franchi,Saverio Tateo,Gerardo Zanetta,Giovanna Scarfone,Livia Giurgea,Petra Timmers,Corneel Coens,Sergio Pecorelli +13 more
TL;DR: The benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy appeared to be limited to patients with non-optimal staging, i.e., patients with more risk of unappreciated residual disease, and adjuvant chemotherapy was associated with statistically significantly improved recurrence-free survival in patients with early-stage ovarian cancer.
Phase III randomised study to evaluate the role of adjuvant pelvic radiotherapy in the treatment of uterine sarcomas stages I and II: An European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Gynaecological Cancer Group Study (protocol 55874)
Nicholas Reed,Costantino Mangioni,Henric Malmström,Giovanna Scarfone,Andres Poveda,Sergio Pecorelli,Saverio Tateo,Massimo Franchi,J. J. Jobsen,Corneel Coens,I. Teodorovic,Ignace Vergote,Jan B. Vermorken +12 more
TL;DR: Prognostic factor analysis shows that stage, age and histological subtype were important predictors of behaviour which may explain differences between CS and LMS, and CS appears to show more kinship to poorly differentiated endometrial carcinomas in behaviour.

The pathogenesis of endometriosis: Molecular and cell biology insights
Antonio Simone Laganà,Simone Garzon,Martin Götte,Paola Viganò,Massimo Franchi,Fabio Ghezzi,Dan C. Martin +6 more
TL;DR: A narrative review synthesizing the findings of the English literature retrieved from computerized databases from inception to June 2019 suggests that a single etiopathogenetic model is not sufficient to explain its complex pathobiology.

Lipid and lipoprotein profile in physiological pregnancy.
Giuseppe Lippi,Alessandro Albiero,Martina Montagnana,Gian Luca Salvagno,Silvia Scevarolli,Massimo Franchi,Gian Cesare Guidi +6 more
TL;DR: The results of this case-control study demonstrate that physiological pregnancy is associated with a substantial modification of the lipid and lipoprotein metabolism from the second trimester, providing reference ranges for traditional and emerging cardiovascular risk predictors throughout the gestational period.
