Takaya Makiguchi,Takahiro Yamaguchi,Hideharu Nakamura,Masaru Ogawa,Norifumi Harimoto,Ken Shirabe,Satoshi Yokoo +6 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that lower SMM increases the hypoactive and mixed types of POD, and increasing SMM by exercise and nutritional therapy preoperatively may prevent such POD in free flap repair for oral cancer.

Multicenter Retrospective Study of Adjuvant Therapy for Patients with Pathologically Lymph Node-Positive Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Analysis of Covariance Using Propensity Score
Souichi Yanamoto,Mitsunobu Otsuru,Yoshihide Ota,Masaya Okura,Tomonao Aikawa,Hiroshi Kurita,Takahiro Kamata,Tadaaki Kirita,Nobuhiro Yamakawa,Michihiro Ueda,Tetsuro Yamashita,Takahide Komori,Takashi Shigeta,Satoshi Yokoo,Masaru Ogawa,Masahiro Umeda +15 more
TL;DR: The addition of cytotoxic chemotherapy to RT does not provide additional survival benefit in OSCC patients with pN+ disease and alternative strategies, such as molecular targeted therapies, are needed to further improve the survival of high-risk OSCC Patients with pn+ disease.

Treatment of microstomia caused by burn with a nasolabial flap--an ingenious approach for tugging and fixation of the oral commissure.
Takaya Makiguchi,Satoshi Yokoo,Atsushi Koitabashi,Masaru Ogawa,Hidetaka Miyazaki,Hiroto Terashi +5 more
TL;DR: Treatment with some ingenious attempts for the nasolabial flap to a patient with microstomia caused by cicatricial contracture after burn obtained favorable results with no postoperative use of a splint.

Treatment strategy of a huge ameloblastic carcinoma
Takaya Makiguchi,Satoshi Yokoo,Hidetaka Miyazaki,Aiko Nobusawa,Masaru Ogawa,Kazunobu Hashikawa,Hiroto Terashi +6 more
TL;DR: Safe surgical resection was possible because preoperative three-dimensional computed tomography angiography was used to identify the position of the main trunk of the external carotid artery, which was closely aligned with the tumor in a posterior direction in the infratemporal fossa region.

Laboratory Risk Indicator for Necrotizing Fasciitis of the Oro-Cervical Region (LRINEC-OC): A Possible Diagnostic Tool for Emergencies of the Oro-Cervical Region.
TL;DR: Delays in diagnosis and surgical treatment for OCNF led to a fatal prognosis, and the potential utility of the LRINEC-OC score for improving the prognosis was shown in this study.
