The microstructure of technologically important silicon surfaces
Martin Henzler
- 01 Jan 1987
TL;DR: In this paper, the atomic steps at the Si/SiO2 interface are studied with respect to vertical and lateral distribution and to correlation with device performance, and the two-dimensional nucleation and the layer-by-layer growth in detail.

Scanning Tunneling Microscopy Study of Ge Molecular Beam Epitaxy on Si(111) 7×7
Otto Jusko,Ulrich Köhler,Martin Henzler +2 more
- 01 Jan 1990
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used scanning tunneling microscopy to study the nucleation and epitaxial growth of germanium on Si(111) substrates at elevated temperature.
Study of epitaxial growth by combination of STM and LEED
Martin Henzler,Ulrich Köhler,Otto Jusko +2 more
- 01 Jan 1992
TL;DR: In this paper, the first stages of epitaxial growth determine the growth of films with respect to general growth, orientation, smoothness, homogeneity and all other types of possible deviations from an ideal film.
Quantitative evaluation of random distributed steps at interfaces and surfaces
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the feasibility of using LEED spot profiles to determine random distributed steps at interfaces and surfaces, and showed that strictly kinematical evaluations are sufficient to provide data on step atom density and terrace width distribution.
