A Nomogram Predicting 10-Year Life Expectancy in Candidates for Radical Prostatectomy or Radiotherapy for Prostate Cancer
Jochen Walz,Andrea Gallina,Fred Saad,Francesco Montorsi,Paul Perrotte,Shahrokh F. Shariat,Claudio Jeldres,Markus Graefen,Francois Benard,Michael McCormack,Luc Valiquette,Pierre I. Karakiewicz +11 more
TL;DR: A nomogram predicting 10 year LE after either RP or EBRT was 84.3% accurate in split sample validation and was 2.9% more accurate than the existing tool, which can help optimizing therapy decision-making.

Accuracy of life tables in predicting overall survival in candidates for radiotherapy for prostate cancer.
Jochen Walz,Andrea Gallina,Georg C. Hutterer,Paul Perrotte,Shahrokh F. Shariat,Markus Graefen,Michael McCormack,Francois Benard,Luc Valiquette,Fred Saad,Pierre I. Karakiewicz +10 more
TL;DR: Life tables have a limited ability to predict LE in patients treated with radiotherapy for prostate cancer and are recommended for the use of multivariate prognostic models that integrate several variables, such as at least age and comorbidities, to estimate LE.

Population-Based External Validation of the Updated 2012 Partin Tables in Contemporary North American Prostate Cancer Patients.
Sami-Ramzi Leyh-Bannurah,Stéphanie Gazdovich,Lars Budäus,Emanuele Zaffuto,Emanuele Zaffuto,Paolo Dell'Oglio,Paolo Dell'Oglio,Alberto Briganti,Firas Abdollah,Francesco Montorsi,Jonas Schiffmann,Mani Menon,Shahrokh F. Shariat,Margit Fisch,Felix K.-H. Chun,Markus Graefen,Pierre I. Karakiewicz +16 more
TL;DR: To externally validate the updated 2012 Partin Tables in contemporary North American patients treated with radical prostatectomy (RP) for localized prostate cancer (PCa) at community institutions, partin tables are externally validated.

Prostate cancer nomograms are superior to neural networks.
Pierre I. Karakiewicz,Felix K.-H. Chun,Alberto Briganti,Paul Perrotte,Michael McCormack,Francois Benard,Luc Valiquette,Markus Graefen,Fred Saad +8 more
TL;DR: In the field of PCa detection, nomograms appear to outweigh the benefits of neural networks, however, the neural network methodology represents a valid alternative, which should not be underestimated.

Hospital and Surgical Caseload are Predictors of Comprehensive Surgical Treatment for Bladder Cancer: A Population Based Study
Firas Abdollah,Firas Abdollah,Jan Schmitges,Maxine Sun,Rodolphe Thuret,Orchidee Djahangirian,Claudio Jeldres,Shahrokh F. Shariat,Markus Graefen,Paul Perrotte,Francesco Montorsi,Pierre I. Karakiewicz +11 more
TL;DR: The findings indicate that a potentially comprehensive surgical treatment, defined as radical cystectomy with pelvic lymph node dissection, is only offered to a subset of patients.
