Antimicrobial peptides in amniotic fluid: defensins, calprotectin and bacterial/permeability-increasing protein in patients with microbial invasion of the amniotic cavity, intra-amniotic inflammation, preterm labor and premature rupture of membranes.
Jimmy Espinoza,Tinnakorn Chaiworapongsa,R. Romero,Samuel Edwin,C. Rathnasabapathy,R. Gomez,Emmanuel Bujold,Natalia Camacho,Yeon Mee Kim,Sonia S. Hassan,Sean C. Blackwell,Janice E. Whitty,Susan Berman,Mark Redman,B. H. Yoon,Yoram Sorokin +15 more
TL;DR: Elevated amniotic fluid concentrations of BPI, immunoreactive HNP 1-3, BPI and calprotectin are associated with intra-amniotic inflammation, histological chorioamnionitis and shorter amniocentesis-to-delivery interval in patients presenting with preterm labor with intact membranes.

Vasa previa: clinical presentations, outcomes, and implications for management
Richard Bronsteen,Amy Whitten,Mamtha Balasubramanian,Wesley Lee,Robert P. Lorenz,Mark Redman,Luís F. Gonçalves,David E. Seubert,Samuel T. Bauer,Christine H. Comstock +9 more
TL;DR: Transvaginal ultrasound scans of at-risk patients can identify most cases of vasa previa, and preterm bleeding does not usually require immediate delivery.

The ninety-fifth percentile for growth discordance predicts complications of twin pregnancy
Mark Redman,Sean C. Blackwell,Jerrie S. Refuerzo,Michael Kruger,Nihal Naccasha,Sonia S. Hassan,Stanley M. Berry +6 more
TL;DR: Defining pathologic discordance as the 95th percentile, or >30% difference, enhances its predictive value in twins delivered at >23 weeks' gestation.

Cesarean delivery rates at the threshold of viability.
Mark Redman,Bernard Gonik +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors assess whether the treatment of deliveries at the traditional threshold of viability has become more interventional since the publication of higher survival rates and find that the cesarean delivery rate at 23 weeks rose from 15.9% in 1995 to 28.2% in 2000.

Venous thromboembolism during pregnancy. Clinical suspicion warrants evaluation.
TL;DR: In this article, a retrospective review was conducted from 1997 to 2001 including women with a diagnosis or suspicion of venous thromboembolism during pregnancy. But, there was no difference in clinical signs or symptoms between groups with a pulmonary embolism (PE) compared to those without a PE.
