The VWCS provides the virtual wallet card selection options to a user mobile device, and obtains a user selection of an account included among the options. The VWCS initiates a purchase transaction using the user selection. The system includes a data input portion that communicates first information regarding a payment request, as well as a decision reference data store for communicating second information regarding parameters for use in determining a payment option for the payment request. Then, the processor selectably determines the payment option to direct a transmission of funds from at least one payment source to at least one payee account based on an optimization determination performed by the processor. The optimization determination may provide savings to the institution processing the transaction, or alternatively, may provide savings to the customer initiating the transaction, for example.

According to the invention, a method for processing a transaction where the transaction is initiated by a payor online, but paid to a payee in-person, is disclosed. In one step, payor information is accepted at a location that located across a wide area network from the payor. The transaction information includes an amount and a payee identifier and the payment source information includes account details associated with an account of the payor at a money handler. A risk related to a likelihood that the transaction will complete successfully is evaluated. Validating that the payment source information is associated with the payor is manually performed if the risk is excessive. The risk can generally be reduced by the manual validation. The money handler is billed for at least the amount. It is determined if the money handler settles the amount. Historical information on the transaction is stored.

This disclosure describes, generally, methods and systems for certifying user identities (IDs). The method includes receiving, from a customer, a certification request for a user ID. The method then identifies the user ID's owner and collects information about the owner. The information may include financial information, personal information, biographical information, etc. The method then analyzes the collected information to generate a risk score associated with the user ID, and based on the risk score exceeding a threshold, the method certifies the user ID.

A money handler associated with the payor is debited for at least the payment amount. The payment instrument payable to the payee name for the payment amount is generated. That payment instrument is based on at least one of the payment currency and the drawee bank nationality. The payment currency is different from a currency used by the money handler. The payment instrument is delivered to the payee.
