Historical Shoreline Change: Error Analysis and Mapping Accuracy
TL;DR: In this paper, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is assessing technical methodologies and procedures for the collection, analysis, and computation of coastal erosion rates using historical shoreline data compared with current shoreline information.

On Forecasting Future U.S. Shoreline Positions: A Test of Algorithms
TL;DR: The authors used temporally complete sea level records as surrogate data sets to evaluate various shoreline prediction algorithms (e.g., end point method, linear regression, and a technique based on the minimum description length criterion).
An Estimate of the U.S. Population Living in 100-Year Coastal Flood Hazard Areas
Mark Crowell,Kevin G. Coulton,Cheryl Johnson,Jonathan Westcott,Doug Bellomo,Scott Edelman,Emily Hirsch +6 more
TL;DR: Crowell et al. as mentioned in this paper estimated the United States population subject to the 1% annual chance (100 y) coastal flood hazard as mapped by FEMA and developed a systematic method to separate coastal and riverine flood hazard areas and incorporate this boundary into the digital flood hazard database.

Considerations for shoreline position prediction
TL;DR: In this article, a simple mathematical model that mimics many of the characteristics of shoreline position variation and real-shoreline position data from Delaware between 1845 -1993 are employed to illustrate the difficulties of the prediction problem.
