Intrinsic self-healing thermoset through covalent and hydrogen bonding interactions
Rodrigo Araya-Hermosilla,Guilherme Macedo R. Lima,Patrizio Raffa,G. Fortunato,Andrea Pucci,Mario E. Flores,Ignacio Moreno-Villoslada,Antonius Broekhuis,Francesco Picchioni +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the intrinsic selfhealing ability of polyketone (PK) chemically modified into furan and/or OH groups containing derivatives is presented, and the resulting thermosets display tuneable softening points (peak of tan (delta)) from 90 to 137 degrees C as established by DMTA.

Self-Healing Polymer Nanocomposite Materials by Joule Effect.
Jaime Orellana,Ignacio Moreno-Villoslada,Ranjita K. Bose,Francesco Picchioni,Mario E. Flores,Rodrigo Araya-Hermosilla +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive analysis of conductive polymer nanocomposites presenting reversible dynamic bonds and their activation to perform self-healing through the Joule effect is presented.

Immobilization of hydrophilic low molecular-weight molecules in nanoparticles of chitosan/poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) assisted by aromatic-aromatic interactions.
Juan Pablo Fuenzalida,Mario E. Flores,Inés Móniz,Miguel Feijoo,Francisco M. Goycoolea,Hiroyuki Nishide,Ignacio Moreno-Villoslada +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors showed that the strength of binding of cationic molecules to the polyanion bearing charged aromatic groups poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) by means of short-range aromatic-aromatic interactions increases with their hydrophobicity and polarizability, as seen by 1H NMR and UV-vis spectroscopies, and diafiltration.

Effect of Polymer Micelles on Antifungal Activity of Geranylorcinol Compounds against Botrytis cinerea
Lautaro Taborga,Katy Díaz,Andrés F. Olea,Paula Reyes-Bravo,Mario E. Flores,Hugo Peña-Cortés,Luis Espinoza +6 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that polymer micelles are promising systems for application of crop-protecting agents.

Confinement of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis-(4-sulfonatophenyl)-porphyrin in novel poly(vinylpyrrolidone)s modified with aromatic amines
Myriam Gómez-Tardajos,Juan Pablo Pino-Pinto,Claudia Díaz-Soto,Mario E. Flores,Alberto Gallardo,Carlos Elvira,Helmut Reinecke,Hiroyuki Nishide,Ignacio Moreno-Villoslada +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the interaction of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis-(4-sulfonatophenyl)-porphyrin with a series of copolymers (P10, P25, P50, P75, and P100) has been analyzed regarding shifts of the absorption bands and shift of the transition pH.
