Ultrastructural study on the morphological changes to male worms of Schistosoma mansoni after in vitro exposure to allicin.
Caliandra Maria Bezerra Luna Lima,Francisca Inês de Sousa Freitas,Liana Clébia Soares Lima de Morais,Marília Gabriela dos Santos Cavalcanti,Lânia Ferreira da Silva,Rafael José Ribeiro Padilha,Constância Gayoso Simões Barbosa,Fábio André Brayner dos Santos,Fábio André Brayner dos Santos,Luiz Carlos Alves,Luiz Carlos Alves,Luiz Carlos Alves,Margareth de Fátima Formiga Melo Diniz +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of allicin on the tegument of Schistosoma mansoni worms was investigated using scanning electron microscopy, where the worms were fixed in 2.5% glutaraldehyde solution, washed twice, post-fixed in osmium tetroxide, washing twice and then dehydrated with ascending grades of ethanol.
Hemocytes ultrastructure of Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae).
Helena R. C. Araújo,Marília Gabriela dos Santos Cavalcanti,S. S. Santos,Luiz Carlos Alves,Fábio André Brayner +4 more
TL;DR: Six hemocytes cell types from the hemolymph of Aedes aegypti were identified by light and transmission electron microscopy, and the adipohemocytes were the most abundant cell type presented.

Improved Microwave-Mediated Synthesis of 3-(3-Aryl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)propionic Acids and Their Larvicidal and Fungal Growth Inhibitory Properties
Ricardo A. W. Neves Filho,Cecília Silva,Clécia Sipriano Borges da Silva,Vanessa Passos Brustein,Daniela Maria do Amaral Ferraz Navarro,Fábio André Brayner dos Santos,Fábio André Brayner dos Santos,Luiz Carlos Alves,Luiz Carlos Alves,Marília Gabriela dos Santos Cavalcanti,Marília Gabriela dos Santos Cavalcanti,Rajendra M. Srivastava,Maria G. Carneiro-da-Cunha +12 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that larvicidal activity might be correlated with the presence of electron-withdrawing substituents in the para position of the phenyl ring except the fluorine atom, and the previously complicated purification procedure has been simplified in a manner which is quick, eco-friendly and cost-effective.
Microscopic Analysis of Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) Embryonic Development Before and After Treatment with Azadirachtin, Lufenuron, and Deltamethrin
A. A. Correia,Valéria Wanderley-Teixeira,Álvaro Aguiar Coelho Teixeira,José Vargas de Oliveira,Gabriel Gazzoni Araújo Gonçalves,Marília Gabriela dos Santos Cavalcanti,Fábio André Brayner,Fábio André Brayner,Luiz Carlos Alves,Luiz Carlos Alves +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the compounds lufenuron and azadirachtin interfere on S. frugiperda embryonic development.
