Reaction of imines with N-iodosuccinimide (NIS): unexpected formation of stable 1 : 1 complexes
Isabel Castellote,Maria Moron,Carolina Burgos,Julio Alvarez-Builla,Avelino Martín,Pilar Gómez-Sal,Juan J. Vaquero +6 more
TL;DR: This is the first reported example of a halogen bonding interaction involving the C=N bond and NIS, and the structure of one of these was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

Highly Fluorescent Green Fluorescent Protein Chromophore Analogues Made by Decorating the Imidazolone Ring.
Sara Gutiérrez,David Martínez-López,Maria Moron,David Sucunza,Diego Sampedro,Alberto Domingo,Antonio Salgado,Juan J. Vaquero +7 more
TL;DR: The synthesis and photophysical behavior of an unexplored family of green fluorescent protein (GFP)-like chromophore analogues is reported and the analogue AIDNI, in which the 4-hydroxybenzyl group of p-HBDNI was replaced by an azaindole group, showed improved photophysical properties and potential for cell staining.

A cascade reaction of azolopyrimidines. Synthesis of unusual indole and azaindole derivatives
Maria Moron,Carolina Burgos,Julio Alvarez-Builla,Antonio Salgado,Marta E. G. Mosquera,Juan J. Vaquero +5 more
TL;DR: The reaction of bromo substituted pyrido[3',2':4,5]pyrrolo-[1,2-c]pyrimidine and pyrimido[1,6-a]indole methyl carboxylates with primary amines is described, resulting in unusual imidazolidene substituted indoles and azaindoles.
