Operation and diagnostics of machines and production systems operational states

This paper from the field of environmental chemistry offers an innovative use of sorbents in the treatment of waste industrial water. Various industrial activities, especially the use of technological fluids in machining, surface treatment of materials, ore extraction, pesticide use in agriculture, etc., create wastewater containing dangerous metals that cause serious health problems. This paper presents the results of studies of the natural zeolite clinoptilolite as a sorbent of copper cations. These results provide the measurement of the sorption kinetics as well as the observed parameters of sorption of copper cations from the aquatic environment to the clinoptilolite from a promising Slovak site. The effectiveness of the natural sorbent is also compared with that of certain known synthetic sorbents.

Jančík, SPINEA, s.r.o., Prešov, Slovak Republic Powder metallurgy is the manufacturing science of producing solid parts of desired geometry and material from powders. Although the process has existed for more than 100 years, over the past quarter century it has become widely recognized as a superior way of producing high-quality parts for a variety of important applications. This success is due to the advantages the process offers over other metal forming technologies, advantages in material utilization, shape complexity, near-net-shape dimensional control, among others. Commonly known as powder metallurgy, it may also be referred to as powder processing considering that non-metal powders can be involved. Powders are compacted into a certain geometry then heated (sintered), to solidify the part.

Advantages and effectiveness of the powder metallurgy in manufacturing technologies

Several experimental results of a research on ceramics as cutting tools are described in this paper. Mechanical properties, grinding pocedures, cutting characteristics and tool life of ceramics are discussed comparing with those for carbide tools. These results showed that ceramic tools used in this study was inferior a little in hardness, sharpness of cutting edges by grinding and resistance of flank wear to those for carbides, owing to less ductility. On the other hand, it was shown that ceramics had excellent features in cutting characteristics, that is, larger shear angle and less tool-chip contact length, and showed good cratering resistance. Improvement in ductility is mostly desired for increasing usefulness of ceramic tools.

On Ceramic Cutting Tools

Abstract The main aim of presented article is to present methodology how sophisticated products as compressor equipment can be considered and analysed as a complex technical system which consists of jointly operating components – a set of hardware, software, operational staff and documented information. In process modelling, these components are interacting in different processes of inputs, outputs, mechanisms (resources) or management. Based on the regulatory requirements for each component of the system, a key efficiency indicator can be identified. This allows to control the process and make appropriate decisions to improve the system. The application of the proposed methodology for the development and implementation of an integrated management system reduce the cost of resources and significantly improve the quality of the implementation of processes.

Implementation of Integrated Management System in Order to Enhance Equipment Efficiency

The main effort of each technological process is not only to reduce the costs, but also to reduce the impact on the environment. The technology of abrasive water jet is one of the methods of division and cutting materials with the lowest impact on the environment, since water is the cutting tool, in our case with the addition of an abrasive. The aim of the measurement was the observation (examination) and evaluation of the vibration impact on the technological head in the technology of abrasive water jet when changing the selected technological parameters, namely the feed rate of the technological head. The experiments were carried out on one kind of material - steel HARDOX 500 with a thickness of 10 mm. The impact of the change of the technological head’s feed rate (100, 50, mm/min) on the size of the vibration acceleration amplitude and its frequency were examined. A database was created from the measured vibration values on the technological head and from that database the data was evaluated in selected softwares (LabVIEW, SignalExpress a Microsoft Excel). Graphical dependencies, frequency spectra covers and covers comparison graph were created from which new findings and conclusions were formulated.

Diagnostic and Experimental Valuation on Progressive Machining Unit

AWJ abrasive water jet belongs to the unconventional methods of machining. Waterjet offers a number of advantages over other cutting methods. There is no heat or chemical material damage, high accuracy and precision, the ability to cut any material and others. Despite many advantages of AWJ has some technical elements that can be improved and optimized. This article deals with effect of vibration on the technological head and consequently wears. The aim of the experiments is to find the most appropriate feed rate, which extends the life of the technological head.

Very important cutting tool property is its durability. Durability of cutting tool defines lifetime of this cutting tool and it determines its suitability for select technological operation. Technical science defines a lot of different factors, that they may be cause of shorter cutting tool lifetime. For increase cutting tool durability is necessary maximally possible elimination of these factors. Determination of cutting tool durability is very important, because provides comprehensive information how to determine appropriate technological conditions for selected cutting tool. In engineering is for determination of cutting tools durability used T-vc dependence. The article describes process how to create durability dependence for cutting tools made of cutting ceramic by means of T-vc dependence in machining process of C60.
