Phytanic acid, a natural peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) agonist, regulates glucose metabolism in rat primary hepatocytes
Manuel Heim,James B. Johnson,Franziska Boess,Igor Bendik,Peter Weber,Willi Hunziker,Beat Flühmann +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that phytanic acid acts via different PPAR isoforms to modulate expression of genes involved in glucose metabolism, thus suggesting a potential role of phytic acid in the management of insulin resistance.

Noninterventional study of transdermal fentanyl (fentavera) matrix patches in chronic pain patients: analgesic and quality of life effects.
TL;DR: It is concluded, from this population-based data, that the proprietary, transdermal fentanyl matrix patch is effective and safe for chronic pain management in clinical practice, with significant positive analgesic and QoL effects, while being well tolerated and exhibiting good or very good adhesiveness.
A spin-column procedure for estrogen receptor equilibrium and competition binding analysis.
J. Shantz,Manuel Heim,G. Kampmann,N. Sochocky,P. Fuchs,C h Schweitzer,Peter Weber,Kenneth Lundstrom,Willi Hunziker,Igor Bendik +9 more
TL;DR: A reliable and sensitive protocol to generate saturation binding curves and heterologous competition curves to test estrogenic compounds is presented.
