Serum TNF-alpha levels are increased and correlate negatively with free IGF-I in Alzheimer disease
TL;DR: The present results suggest that increased TNF-alpha levels are involved in the pathogenesis of AD and MCI, and might antagonize the neurotrophic activity of IGF-I in these medical conditions, and may be useful to monitor anti-inflammatory and/or neurotrophic drug effects in AD.

Apathy and APOE4 are associated with reduced BDNF levels in Alzheimer's disease.
TL;DR: The association of apathy and APOE4 with reduced serum BDNF levels in AD is shown, and it is suggested that BDNF reductions might contribute to the worse cognitive performance exhibited by AD apathetic patients and femaleAPOE4 carriers.
Positive effects of cerebrolysin on electroencephalogram slowing, cognition and clinical outcome in patients with postacute traumatic brain injury: an exploratory study.

TL;DR: Cognitive performance, evaluated with the Syndrome Kurztest test, improved in TBI patients after Cerebrolysin treatment, independent of disease severity, time course or disability, and a significant improvement in the patients' clinical outcome was also found following Cere Brolysin infusions.

TL;DR: The results indicate that the combined therapy reversed the increase of serum VEGF in advanced AD, which was associated with cognitive and functional responses, particularly in patients with high baseline V EGF.

P2-402: Double-blind, placebo-controlled study of three different dosages of cerebrolysin in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease
Anton Alvarez,Marta Laredo,Miguel Varela,Ramón Cacabelos,Carolina Sanpedro,Manuel Aleixandre,Carlos Linares,Herbert Moessler +7 more
TL;DR: Doses of huperzine A up to 400 g BID are generally well tolerated in cognitively normal older adults, and no clinically significant abnormalities were detected in vital sign monitoring, physical examination, electrocardiogram or routine laboratory studies.
