ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 9 Number 1 (2020) Journal homepage: http://www.ijcmas.com A field experiment was conducted at Research Farm, Dr. RPCAU Pusa, Bihar during kharif 2018 on calcareous sandy loam soil, having pH 8.57, medium in soil organic carbon content (0.65 %), EC 0.35 dSm -1 , available nitrogen (195 kg/ha), available phosphorus (26.63 kg/ha) and available potassium (134 kg/ha). Experiment was laid-out in split-plot designand replicated thrice. Main-plot included three crop establishment methods, viz. dry direct-seeded rice (DSR-dry), wet direct-seeded rice (DSR-wet) and puddled transplanted rice (TR). In sub-plots, five nutrient management methods T1100% STCR Based Dose of Fertilizer + ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha -1 (DF), T2-75% DF + 25% STCR based Recommended Dose of Nitrogen (RDN) through Vermicompost, T3-100% STCR based RDN through Vermicompost, T4100% DF + 50% STCR based RDN through Vermicompost and T550% DF + 25% STCR based RDN throughVermicompost. The post-harvest soil was analysed to evaluate the effect of different nutrient management methods on soil microbial biomass Carbon (SMBC), soil microbial biomass Nitrogen(SMBN), Microbial population and Dehydrogenase Enzyme (DH) activity under the three different establishment methods. The results indicated that fungal and bacterial population was higher in transplanted rice while actinomycetes population was higher in DSR-dry.The microbial population count was highest under T3-100% RDNfollowed by T4-100% DF + 50% RDN.The DH, MBC and MBN recorded higher values of 28.74 μg TPF g -1 hr -1 , 292.6 mg kg -1 and 32.20 mg kg -1 respectively under transplanted rice whereas, DSR-dry recorded lower value.The DH, SMBC and SMBN were significantly influenced by the application of T3-100% RDNwhich recorded 33.64 μg TPF g -1 hr -1 , 317.1 mg kg -1 & 33.27 mg kg 1 respectively while significantly lower value was recorded with T1-100% DF20.12 μg TPF g 1 hr -1 , 249.1 mg kg -1 and 27.36 mg kg -1 respectively. Therefore it may be concluded that addition of organics (vermicompost) led to improvement of microbial as well as enzymatic activity which was more pronounced in DSR-wet and Transplanted rice. Effect of Nutrient Management and Crop Establishment Methods of Rice on Biological Properties of Soil

Field experiment was conducted in Rabi season of 2016-17 at Research Farm of at AICRP on Integrated farming System. Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani entitled “Enzyme activity and Soil Biological Properties influenced by application of Different Nutrient sources in Onion under Vertisols of Maharashtra”. The experiment was laid out on Vertisols with eight treatment combination, replicated three times in randomized block design. The treatment consists of T1- (50% recommended NPK + 50% N through FYM + Inorganic sources of micronutrient as per soil test), T2- (Different organic sources each equivalent to 1/3 recommended N (FYM + Vermi-compost + non edible oil cake), T3- (T2 + Intercropping of trap crop), T4- (T2 + Agronomic practices for weed and pest control (No chemical, pesticide and herbicide), T5- (50% N as FYM + Bio-fertilizer for N + Rock phosphate to substitute the P requirement of crops + Phosphate solubilizing bacterial culture), T6- (T2 + bio-fertilizer containing N and P carriers), T7- (100% NPK + Secondary and micronutrient based on soil test (ZnSO4 10 kg + S 25 kg), T8- (Absolute control). The results reneged out from the experiment field stated that the maximum population of bacteria 348.33 x 107 cfu g -1 soil, fungi 20.00 x 104 cfu g-1 soil and Actinomycetes 105.33 x 105 cfu g-1 soil was recorded by treatments T6- (T2 + bio-fertilizer containing N and P carriers), than all other treatments. The dehydrogenase enzyme activity 343.33 µg TPF 24 h-1 g-1 soil and microbial biomass carbon 345.66 µg g-1 soil was recorded by treatments T1- (50% recommended NPK + 50% N through FYM + inorganic sources of micronutrient as per soil test) at harvest of onion crop. The onion yield was recorded maximum by application of treatment T6, T2 and biofertiilizers enter N and P carries.

Enzyme activity and soil biological properties influenced by application of different nutrient sources in onion under vertisols of Maharashtra

Use of high energy agricultural inputs like fertilizers and pesticides cause environmental hazards, so it is desirable to develop a sustainable production system that give optimum productivity with minimum environmental pollution (Singh et al., 2010). The System of Rice Intensification (SRI) is an alternative for conventional rice cultivation that saves the expensive external inputs, improves soil health/quality and protects the environment substantially (Ram et al., 2014). Microbes harbouring rhizosphere of crops provide benefits to crops through better nutrient availability by way of atmospheric N2 fixation or solubilizing fixed mineral forms of nutrients (Pandey et al., 2010). Use of integrated nutrient management yields maximum counts and establishment of microbes in soil rather than sole application of chemical fertilizer treatments (Kumar et al., 2014). Impact of Crop Establishment, Weed and Nutrient Management Practices on Microbial Population and Grain Yield of Transplanted Rice

A field experiment was undertaken to study the nutrient uptake in pearl milletwheat cropping system influenced by various fertilizer levels applied through organic and inorganic sources. The investigation was carried out at CCS Haryana Agricutural University, Hisar consisting of 12 treatments laid out in randomized block design during 2009-10. The findings showed that integrated nutrient supply had beneficial effect on yield and enhanced the microbes’ counts and establishment of soil.
