Economic load dispatch solution of large-scale power systems using an enhanced beluga whale optimizer

Background: The health of women is of particular concern because, in many societies, they are disadvantaged by discrimination rooted in sociocultural factors. Women need to breach many social barriers to empower and to get access for quality health care services. Health seeking behavior is one of the important determinants of women health. Objectives: To assess healthcare seeking behavior among rural women in Telangana. Methods: Cross-sectional study with sample size of 200 was conducted in three villages attached to a medical college. Women of aged 20 years and above were included in the study. Data was collected by predesigned pretested semi-structured questionnaire. Data was presented in proportions with confidence interval and Chi-square test was applied to find the association between variables by using SPSS ver. 23. Results: Only 34.5% [95% CI: 27.9, 41.5] of the subjects seek medical care as soon as symptoms appear and 69% [95% CI: 62.1, 75.3] of the participants were aware of nearby functioning health centres. Majority (60.5%) of the subjects Visits qualified medical practitioner during illness. Conclusions: The present study found that there is still a need to create awareness about the importance of healthcare and available health centers as significant proportion of women population approached unqualified medical practitioners and seeking home remedies as first consultancy source for their health remedies.

Health care seeking behaviour among rural women in Telangana: A cross sectional study

Aquila Optimizer (AO) is a well-known nature-inspired optimization algorithm (NIOA) that was created in 2021 based on the prey grabbing behavior of Aquila. AO is a population-based NIOA that has demonstrated its effectiveness in the field of complex and nonlinear optimization in a short period of time. As a result, the purpose of this study is to provide an updated survey on the topic. This survey accurately reports on the designed enhanced AO variations and their applications. In order to properly assess AO, a rigorous comparison between AO and its peer NIOAs is conducted over mathematical benchmark functions. The experimental results show the AO provides competitive outcomes.

A Comprehensive Survey on Aquila Optimizer

Aquila Optimizer (AO) and African Vultures Optimization Algorithm (AVOA) are two newly developed meta-heuristic algorithms that simulate several intelligent hunting behaviors of Aquila and African vulture in nature, respectively. AO has powerful global exploration capability, whereas its local exploitation phase is not stable enough. On the other hand, AVOA possesses promising exploitation capability but insufficient exploration mechanisms. Based on the characteristics of both algorithms, in this paper, we propose an improved hybrid AO and AVOA optimizer called IHAOAVOA to overcome the deficiencies in the single algorithm and provide higher-quality solutions for solving global optimization problems. First, the exploration phase of AO and the exploitation phase of AVOA are combined to retain the valuable search competence of each. Then, a new composite opposition-based learning (COBL) is designed to increase the population diversity and help the hybrid algorithm escape from the local optima. In addition, to more effectively guide the search process and balance the exploration and exploitation, the fitness-distance balance (FDB) selection strategy is introduced to modify the core position update formula. The performance of the proposed IHAOAVOA is comprehensively investigated and analyzed by comparing against the basic AO, AVOA, and six state-of-the-art algorithms on 23 classical benchmark functions and the IEEE CEC2019 test suite. Experimental results demonstrate that IHAOAVOA achieves superior solution accuracy, convergence speed, and local optima avoidance than other comparison methods on most test functions. Furthermore, the practicality of IHAOAVOA is highlighted by solving five engineering design problems. Our findings reveal that the proposed technique is also highly competitive and promising when addressing real-world optimization tasks. IHAOAVOA: An improved hybrid aquila optimizer and African vultures optimization algorithm for global optimization problems.

AIM To assess the factors defining healthcare-seeking behavior of people with musculoskeletal pain in the urban community of Malang City, East Java, Indonesia. METHODS A cross-sectional survey was performed in Malang City, East Java, Indonesia. In total, 2067 participants aged 16-93 years were interviewed. The sociodemographic and socioeconomic factors of healthcare seeking behavior, musculoskeletal pain, disability, and adverse drug reactions were assessed using the validated Indonesian version of Community Oriented Program for the Control of Rheumatic Disease (COPCORD) protocol by International League of Associations for Rheumatology and the World Health Organization core questionnaire. Chi-square test was applied to assess the determinants of health-seeking behavior for musculoskeletal pain. RESULTS Slightly more than one-third of the respondents (36%) with musculoskeletal pain, described as osteoarthritis, low back pain, gouty arthritis, soft tissue rheumatism, and autoimmune arthritis, were assessed for their health-seeking behavior. About 73% of all those participants sought treatment for their musculoskeletal symptoms. Treatment modality used was modern healthcare, traditional healthcare, self-treatment using traditional medication, self-treatment using modern medication with the proportions of 20.94%, 25.23%, 33.95%, 25.77%, respectively. Disability significantly affected health-seeking behavior as the major determinant (prevalence ratio [PR] 1.087, 95% CI 1.031-1.146, P = 0.002), followed by age (PR 1.043, 95% CI 1.000-1.087, P = 0.049). Healthcare-seeking behavior was associated with the presence of adverse drug reactions (P < 0.001). CONCLUSION Factors associated with musculoskeletal pain health-seeking behavior were disability and age. Self and traditional healthcare treatment were further associated with an adverse drug reaction.

Factors associated with health care seeking behavior for musculoskeletal pain in Indonesia: A cross-sectional study.

Background: Understanding of health seeking behaviour (HSB) is essential to provide need based health care services to the population. Many factors like sex, age, type of illness, access to services and perceived quality of the services, influences the health seeking behavior. This study assessed the HSB among rural population of a coastal area in Tamil Nadu. Methods: A community based descriptive study was done in a rural coastal area of Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu state of India. Using simple random sampling method, 559 participants were selected. A pre-tested structured questionnaire was used to collect the data. Information about socio-demographic characteristics, presence of acute or chronic illness, health care seeking behavior and reasons for non-utilization of particular health facilities etc. was obtained. Chi square test was applied to find the association of health care seeking behavior with various participant characteristics. Results: Among 559 study participants, majority (56.4%) visited public health care facilities for various illnesses. Almost one-third of the study participants visited the private health facilities and another 11.6 percent visited other health facilities including pharmacies. Among various causes, febrile illnesses (39.5%) and pain (20.8%) were the most common reasons for visiting a health care facility. Individual’s income was significantly associated with the HSB (p value <0.05). Availability of services, free of cost was reported as most common reason for preferring to the public health facility. On other hand, private practitioners were preferred due to their better availability and quality of care. Conclusions: Public health care facilities were preferred by due to low cost of services and HSB varies with the type of illness and income of the individuals.

Determinants of health care seeking behavior among rural population of a coastal area in South India

Background: Hearing impairment is the most frequent sensory deficit in human population and irrespective of the age of development, has devastating consequences. This study was done to assess the burden of hearing impairment among the rural adult population of a coastal area in Tamil Nadu. Methods:  This community-based descriptive study was conducted in a rural area of Tamil Nadu state in India. The study protocol was approved by the institute ethics committee of PIMS. Eligible participants from all the household in the study area were selected. A semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect the information and hearing impairment was assessed by self-reporting by the participants. Proportions for categorical variables were calculated and Chi-square test was applied to find the associations. Results:  Among a total of 5621 participants interviewed and examined, 232 (4.1%) participants reported to have hearing impairment. Among them, majority reported that they have hearing impairment due to advanced age or non-specific causes resulted in hard to hearing (77.6%) and 12.5% reported to have deafness. Ear discharge (4.3%), wax (3.0%) were other commonly reported cause of hearing impairment. The hearing impairment increased with age and was common among elderly. The reported hearing impairment ranges from 1.5% to 11.3% in different age groups. Age, sex, education and occupation were significantly associated with hearing impairment (p value <0.05). Conclusions:  A large number of people in rural communities were having hearing impairment. Improving access to health education and raising awareness about prevention and the needs of people with hearing loss in community is required.

Self-reported hearing impairment among rural adult population of coastal Tamil Nadu

Background: Obesity is associated with cardiovascular diseases and has become the main public health issue in India. However, the prevalence of obesity in India varies widely. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of overweight and obesity among rural adults in a coastal area of South India. Methods: The prevalence of overweight and obesity was assessed among individuals of 15 years and above living in a rural coastal area of Tamil Nadu in India. Results: Among 207 adult participants, 69.1% were female. About one-fourth (23.7%) of the participants were in age group of 15-24 years and 67.2% participants were literate. About one-third (30%) of the adults were overweight. Obesity was present in 14% of the study participants (26% by using the Asian cut-offs). Using waist circumference and waist-hip ratio cut-offs, abdominal obesity was observed among 55% and 57% of the participants. Among females the central obesity was more common than males. Conclusions: The prevalence of obesity in rural areas was high. There is need to implement community based programs to tackle the increasing obesity.
