A watermarking system comprises an encoding data processor operable to
generate at least one marked version of an original item of material by introducing one
of a predetermined set of code words into a copy of the original material item. The
encoding data processor is arranged to form other code words of the set by cyclically
shifting a first code word. The system includes a detecting data processor operable to
identify the code word in the marked material item. The detecting data processor is
operable to recover the code word from the marked material item and to form a Fourier
transform of the recovered code word and a Fourier transform of the first code word of
the set. The data detecting processor forms correlation samples by forming an inverse
transform of a combination of the recovered and the first code word. Each of the
correlation value samples provides the correlation value for one of the set of code
words. A computationally efficient way of calculating the correlation for each code
word in the set is thereby provided. As a result a time taken to detect a code word
present in a marked material item is improved. The watermarking system finds
particular application in identifying a point of distribution of pirate copies of video
material generated by capturing the watermarked image, using, for example, a
camcorder in a cinema.

A vehicle environment recognition system includes stereo-image taking means for taking images of an environment around a subject vehicle and for outputting the images as a reference image and a comparative image, first stereo matching means for forming a first distance image on the basis of the reference image and the comparative image or on the basis of two images obtained by preprocessing the reference image and the comparative image, second stereo matching means for forming a second distance image on the basis of two images obtained by preprocessing the reference image and the comparative image in a different manner, detection means for detecting objects in the reference image on the basis of the first and second distance images, and selection means for selecting one of the results of detection based on the first and second distance images.

An edge detection system (100) and method (500) implement a recursive polar algorithm process to generate an edge image from an input image. The edge detection system may include a polar filter (106) to recursively perform low-pass filtering along edge contours of a gradient pixel grid and generate a gradient image output. An edge thinner (108) may be included to find gradient field peaks along a direction of gradient vectors of the gradient image output and generate thinned gradient pixels. An edge path segmenter (110) may group the thinned gradient pixels into edge segments, and a segment classifier (112) may determine whether the edge segments are edge paths or clutter. The edge detection system and method may improve automated image processing in medical diagnostics, reconnaissance, missile guidance, security systems, access control systems (e.g., face recognition), navigation, geographic mapping, manufacturing quality inspection, robot vision, and search and rescue.

System and method for detection of image edges using a polar algorithm process

Techniques for fully-differential multi-phase scanning in capacitive fingerprint applications are described herein. In an example embodiment, a system comprises a capacitive fingerprint sensor array and a processing device coupled to the capacitive fingerprint sensor array. The processing device is configured at least to: scan the capacitive fingerprint sensor array in a fully-differential multi-phase mode; receive a plurality of measurements that represents a portion of finger on the capacitive fingerprint sensor array; and generate a fingerprint image for the portion of the finger based on the plurality of measurements. In some embodiments, a capacitive fingerprint sensor array may include receive (RX) electrodes and one or more reference electrodes configured to detect noise, where the one or more reference electrodes have width that is substantially equal to the width of the RX electrodes, but the one or more reference electrodes are disposed at a smaller pitch than the RX electrodes.

Methods and sensors for multiphase scanning in the fingerprint and touch applications

A metrology recipe generator is offered which is capable of automatically creating a metrology recipe without halting the operation of the production line. The metrology recipe is used to carry out SEM-based dimensional metrology for evaluating patterns transferred onto wafers according to CAD data. The generator has a CAD alignment-specifying portion for specifying alignment in CAD according to CAD data and a CAD metrology position-specifying portion for specifying both the coordinates of positions on the wafers on which metrology measurements are made and a metrology type. The metrology recipe is created according to data from the CAD alignment-specifying portion and from the CAD metrology position-specifying portion.

Waferless metrology recipe generator and generating method

A plurality of images, including a first image and a second image having a higher resolution than the first image, are aligned by generating an oversampled cross correlation image that corresponds to relative displacements of the first and second images, and, based on the oversampled cross correlation image, determining an offset value that corresponds to a misalignment of the first and second images. The first and second images are aligned to a precision greater than the resolution of the first image, based on the determined offset value. Enhanced results are achieved by performing another iteration of generating an oversampled cross correlation image and determining an offset value for the first and second images. Generating the oversampled cross correlation image may involve generating a cross correlation image that corresponds to relative displacements of the first and second images, and oversampling the cross correlation image to generate the oversampled cross correlation image.
