TL;DR: In the presence of AlCl3, trimethylsilyl cyanide underwent 1,4 and subsequent 1,2-additions with α,β-unsaturated imines to give 2-aminopentanedinitriles in good yields as discussed by the authors.

TL;DR: In this article, an epoxy compound shown by formula I [R -R are (alkyl, aryl or heterocyclic compound residue) which may contain substituent group of H] is reacted with an excess amount of silicon tetrafluoride (fluorinating agent) in the presence of an amine and/or an ammonium salt and fluorinated through ring formation under a mild condition in high yield and selectively to readily give a large amount of a fluorohydrin compound.
