Indonesia as a diverse tribe country has a distinctive cultural value, including the cultures of Madura, Samin and Tengger in East Java. These cultural values form a system of meaning of life for the people of Madura, Samin and Tengger, including students with a Madurese, Samin or Tengger cultural background. Counseling with Madura culture modeling techniques can be an alternative in an effort to increase the meaning of life of students. This is due to the suitability of modeling techniques with the cultural values of Madura, Samin and Tengger which have significant others with great influence. Thus, modeling of significant others with the influence of magnitude on the cultivation of cultural values of Madura, Samin or Tengger becomes in line with efforts to increase the meaning of life of students based on the cultural value of Madura, Samin or Tengger.

East Java Modeling Techniques to Improve Student Meaning of Life

The high rate of traffic violations and accidents among adolescents is a real problem, especially when no effective solution has been found to reduce these violations. In fact, from year to year, cases of traffic violations among teenagers are increasing. The purpose of this study is to measure the meaning of adolescent life in traffic violation prevention. This type of research is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach, using a data collection tool in the form of a meaningful life questionnaire with a validity greater than 0.361 and a reliability of 0.964. The subjects of this study were vocational high school students. Subjects were taken using simple random sampling technique. This study uses data analysis techniques with descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that the meaning of student life consists of various aspects. Each aspect has a different percentage. The aspect of freedom of will has the lowest percentage of 10%, the aspect of decency of life has a percentage of 12%, the aspect of attitude towards death has a percentage of 23% and the aspect of purpose / meaning of life has the highest percentage of 42%. The results of this study can be used as information for counseling teachers or counselors as a basis for efforts to provide assistance to students to increase the meaning of life in order to prevent negative behavior, one of which is traffic violations that often occur in adolescents.

Traunt behavior is a negative bahavior in students that does not reflect the meaning of life, where the meaning of life is characterized by positive attitude and behaviors aimed at the future. The meaning of life is an individual condition that lives positively and passion to achieve the goal set. This paper aims to describe the concepts of the meaning of life, aspects of the meaning of life, factors of the meaning of life, and it’s relation to traunt student behavior. The method used the study literature, and data analysis technique use is by observation and interviews. The result of the discussion aimed that traunt students had a low meaningful life. This show that the meaning of life is very important for students to have a good behavior aimed at their future. The provision of counseling services by guidance and counseling teachers in school can help students to have the meaning of life.

The noble teachings of Saminism emerged during the Indonesian war for independence, this teaching brings fought through unusual methods of thought and logic. Nevertheless, the teachings of Saminism that live in the Samin community have positive life values in their lives. Those values must be owned by students who have Samin’s cultural background in their educational services they got. Counseling services provided for Samin’s students in Bojonegoro have some barriers. The results of previous studies show that counselors need for counseling techniques based on the Samin culture. This research is a development research that produces a framework of self-management techniques based on the cultural values of Samin. The development of this technique is done by integrating and accommodating Samin’s cultural values within the framework of the self-management technique. Cultural adaptation also helps cognitive change (belief) and student behavior becomes more accepted, supported and strengthened by their sociocultural environment. The suggestion given is to develop and implementing the technique to find out the effectivity as a model.

Saminisme Self-Management Technique on Middle School in Bojonegoro, Indonesia

The Research aims to determine the application of rational emotional behavioral counseling to fulfill the meaning of life of Islamic boarding school students. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis methods. The population and sample used in this research were Islamic School at Malang City students who live in Ma'had. From the results of the analysis, it was found that Rational Emotional Behavioral Counseling through the process showed that each individual has various kinds of irrational thoughts in interpreting or carrying out their daily lives which will ultimately cause the individual to confine themselves to wrong life values. Therefore, in the series of rational emotional behavioral counseling, there are ABC-D-EFG stages where the counselor will start by identifying the activating event (A), then the counselor also needs to explore each consequence (C), which is the result of the activating event that the person has counselee. Then, we will also look for problematic beliefs (B) to find points of irrational thinking that will ultimately be dispelled (D) and replaced with new, more rational thoughts. The hope is that the emergence of new thoughts and feelings can bring the value of creativity, experience, and behaving under norms. It can also set new goals for the counselee to understand each goal orientation better. 

Analysis of rational emotional behavioral counseling implementation by counselors to fulfill the meaning of life of students

This study aims to describe the junior high school students with Samin cultural background’s meaning of life of that comes from: creative values, experiential values and attitudinal values. This study follows the steps of survey types in a descriptive quantitative approach. The instruments used are developed in inventory. Data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis technique and SPSS 20.0 for Windows in order to determine the frequency, percentage, standard deviation, skewness. Results show that junior high school students with Samin cultural background was able to find the meaning of life through three sources of value, which experiential values reach the highest percentage (45%) followed by attitudinal value (29%), and the creative value (26%). In particular, these results illustrate that the fulfillment of meaning of life of junior high school students with a cultural background of Samin is in accordance with the Samin culture which prioritizes appreciation of the values of life before acting and responding to something. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan meaning of life siswa sekolah menengah pertama dengan latar belakang budaya Samin yang bersumber dari: creative values, experiential values dan attitudinal values . Penelitian ini menggunakan langkah-langkah dalam pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif jenis survei. Instrumen yang digunakan, dikembangkan dalam bentuk inventori. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif untuk menentukan frekuensi, persentase, standar deviasi, skewness, dengan bantuan program SPSS 20.0 for windows . Hasil menunjukkan bahwa siswa sekolah menengah pertama dengan latar belakang budaya Samin mampu menemukan meaning of life melalui tiga sumber nilai, dengan experiential values menduduki persentase tertinggi (45%), diikuti attitudinal values (29%), dan creative values (26%). Secara khusus, hasil ini menggambarkan bahwa pemenuhan meaning of life siswa sekolah menengah pertama dengan latar belakang budaya Samin sesuai dengan budaya Samin yang mengutamakan penghayatan terhadap nilai-nilai kehidupan sebelum bertindak dan menyikapi sesuatu.
