Salinity and macrophyte drive the biogeography of the sedimentary bacterial communities in a brackish water tropical coastal lagoon.
Pratiksha Behera,Sofia Mahapatra,Madhusmita Mohapatra,Ji Yoon Kim,Tapan Kumar Adhya,Vishakha Raina,Mrutyunjay Suar,Ajit K. Pattnaik,Gurdeep Rastogi +8 more
TL;DR: This study provides a comprehensive understanding of the spatiotemporal dynamics and functionality of sedimentary bacterial communities and highlighted the role of biotic and abiotic factors in generating the biogeographical patterns in the bacterial communities of a tropical brackish water coastal lagoon.

Spatial and temporal heterogeneity in the structure and function of sediment bacterial communities of a tropical mangrove forest
Pratiksha Behera,Madhusmita Mohapatra,Ji Yoon Kim,Tapan Kumar Adhya,Ajit K. Pattnaik,Gurdeep Rastogi +5 more
TL;DR: This study has provided valuable clues in the structural and metabolic patterns of bacterial communities and their environmental determinants in a tropical mangrove forest of India using high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA genes and community-level physiological profiling.

Seasonal and spatial dynamics of bacterioplankton communities in a brackish water coastal lagoon.
TL;DR: In this article, the seasonal and spatial variation in bacterioplankton communities, their abundances and environmental drivers during one year period in Chilika, a brackish water coastal lagoon of India were investigated.

Structural and metabolic diversity of rhizosphere microbial communities of Phragmites karka in a tropical coastal lagoon
Pratiksha Behera,Madhusmita Mohapatra,Tapan Kumar Adhya,Mrutyunjay Suar,Ajit K. Pattnaik,Gurdeep Rastogi +5 more
TL;DR: A high variability in the community structure and carbon metabolic profiles of rhizosphere communities of P. karka was demonstrated and it was suggested that nutrient cycling related ecosystem services that are mediated by the Rhizosphere microbial communities of reeds must be included in the management and conservation plan of wetlands.

Microbial Ecology of Chilika Lagoon
Pratiksha Behera,Madhusmita Mohapatra,Gurdeep Rastogi +2 more
- 01 Jan 2020
TL;DR: This chapter discusses different culture-dependent and culture-independent methods that have been applied in examining the microbial communities from the Chilika Lagoon, and identifies the knowledge gaps that still exist in the microbial ecology of the Chiltsi Lagoon.
