Inside a spacecraft, the temperature and humidity, suitable for the human crew onboard, also creates an ideal breeding environment for the proliferation of bacteria and fungi; this can present a hazard to human health and create issues for the safe running of equipment. To address this issue, wear-resistant antimicrobial thin films prepared by magnetron sputtering were developed, with the aim to coat key internal components within spacecrafts. Silver and copper are among the most studied active bactericidal materials, thus this work investigated the antibacterial properties of amorphous carbon coatings, doped with either silver, silver and copper, or with silver clusters. The longevity of these antimicrobial coatings, which is heavily influenced by metal diffusion within the coating, was also investigated. With a conventional approach, amorphous carbon coatings were prepared by cosputtering, to generate coatings that contained a range of silver and copper concentrations. In addition, coatings containing silver clusters were prepared using a separate cluster source to better control the metal particle size distribution in the amorphous carbon matrix. The particle size distributions were characterized by grazing-incidence small-angle X-ray scattering (GISAXS). Antibacterial tests were performed under both terrestrial gravity and microgravity conditions, to simulate the condition in space. Results show that although silver-doped coatings possess extremely high levels of antimicrobial activity, silver cluster-doped coatings are equally effective, while being more long-lived, despite containing a lower absolute silver concentration.

The invention discloses a silver-doped graphite-like carbon coating and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method of the silver-doped graphite-like carbon coating comprises the following steps that (1), a substrate subjected to pretreatment is placed in a vacuum cavity containing a chromium target, a carbon target and a silver target for plasma cleaning; (2), a chromium buffer layer isdeposited on the substrate subjected to the treatment in the step (1) by adopting an ion plating process under the vacuum condition, wherein the chromium target is taken as an evaporation source, andargon is taken as the working gas; (3), the silver-doped graphite-like carbon coating is deposited on the chromium buffer layer obtained in the step (2) by adopting the ion plating process under the vacuum condition, wherein the carbon target and the silver target are taken as evaporation sources, and argon is taken as the working gas; and (4), the vacuum condition keeps unchanged, a heat treatment is carried out on the substrate subjected to the treatment in the step (3), and therefore silver in the graphite-like coating can form short silver wires on the interfaces of carbon clusters, and the silver in the graphite-like coating is agglomerated in the graphite-like coating under the heat treatment condition. According to the method, the spontaneous escape of the silver in the silver-dopedgraphite-like carbon coating can be inhibited.

Ag-Me co-doped graphite-like carbon coating and preparation method thereof

The invention discloses a micro-arc oxidation technology. According to the micro-arc oxidation technology, two different technical methods, namely a micro-arc oxidation growth method and a micro-arc oxidation exfoliation method are generated according to the difference between the regulated pulse parameter of an external circuit and the interpolar field intensity of an internal electric field; themicro-arc oxidation growth process has the advantages that a protective layer can be formed on the metal surface, and the corrosion-resistant and scratch-resistant surface protective performance canbe achieved; and the micro-arc oxidation exfoliation process has the advantages that atomic-scale layer-by-layer exfoliation can be achieved, and the high-standard machining precision requirement of acomplex-curved-surface-shaped key component can be met. The micro-arc oxidation technology has the advantages that by using the methods, the existing problems of the surface protective performance ofmaterials can be solved, and the requirements of precision machining of the materials can be met.

Micro-arc oxidation technology

The invention discloses a preparation method for a composite coating layer on the surface of a bipolar plate of an aluminum-matrix fuel cell. The preparation method comprises the following steps: (1)carrying out plasma cleaning on a matrix under a vacuum condition; (2) depositing a pure Ti coating layer on the cleaned matrix through ion sputtering; (3) depositing a TiN transition layer on the pure Ti coating layer through ion sputtering; (4) depositing a silver-doped TiN coating layer on the TiN transition layer; and (5) keeping the vacuum condition unchanged, and carrying out heat treatment,so that silver in the silver-doped TiN coating layer forms short and small silver wires at the interface of the TiN coating layer, and agglomeration is generated. Silver in the silver-doped TiN coating layer prepared through the method is prevented from spontaneously escaping onto the surface, and the short and small silver wires are formed at the interface of the TiN coating layer, so that the electrical conductivity of the TiN coating layer is improved, and the surface contact resistance of the TiN coating layer is reduced; and moreover, the corrosion resistance of the product is greatly improved, and theoretical basis and experimental evidence are provided for metallization for the polar plate of the fuel cell.
