Passenger accumulator fed railcars in regional railway traffic

The emergence of electric vehicle (EV) provides a potential opportunity to enhance energy security and to reduce carbon emission generated by petrol and diesel powered road transport systems. Unfortunately, a great deal of charging EVs pose a newly added load to electric power systems and the total energy production cost of power systems consequently increases. An easy-solved methodology for scheduling charging EVs is therefore proposed here to minimize the total charging costs on the basis of unit commitment (UC) results. The marginal energy production cost for each dispatched hour is calculated based on the UC results, and then EVs are dispatched to be charged on the period with the minimum energy production cost in priority. The methodology is an iterating process that will not be finished until all EVs are dispatched. Simulation results on a case system are presented for verifying the feasibility of the proposed methodology.
