Enantioselective drug monitoring of (R)- and (S)-propranolol in human plasma via derivatization with optically active (R,R)-O,O-diacetyl tartaric acid anhydride
TL;DR: A sensitive high-performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the stereoselective assay of (R)- and (S)-propranolol in human plasma, and the applicability was demonstrated for the determination of concentration-time profiles of proPRanolol enantiomers in the course of comparative pharmacokinetic studies.

Pharmacokinetic data of propranolol enantiomers in a comparative human study with (S)- and (R,S)-propranolol.
TL;DR: The results of this study indicate that the bioavailability of (S)-propranolol, as expressed by the mean area under the concentration-time curve (AUC) and maximum serum concentration, is lower after 40 mg of the optically pure drug than after the racemic drug.
