Beam tests on a proton linac booster for hadron therapy
C. De Martinis,Ugo Amaldi,Claudio Birattari,A. Rovelli,K.R. Crandall,M. Weiss,B. Szeless,E. Rosso,P. Berra,R. Zennaro,Dario Giove,Luciano Calabretta,Vittorio G Vaccaro,Maria Rosaria Masullo,D. Toet,M. Mauri,Luca Serafini +16 more
- 01 Jan 2002
TL;DR: In this article, the main features of the accelerator are reviewed and the experimental results obtained during the first beam acceleration tests are presented, as well as a compact solidstate RF modulator with a 4 MW klystron, made available by IBAScanditronix, was put into operation to power the linac.

A fast monitoring system for radiotherapeutic proton beams based on scintillating screens and a CCD camera
G.A.P. Cirrone,S. Coco,Giacomo Cuttone,C. De Martinis,Dario Giove,P. Lojacono,M. Mauri,R. Messina +7 more
- 01 Jan 2003
TL;DR: The good capabilities of the system make it worthy of further investigations into its applicability in proton beams monitoring for radiotherapeutic treatments (i.e., reconstruction of depth dose distribution and beam monitoring during patient irradiation).

Aclip: a 3 ghz side coupled linac for protontherapy to be used as a booster for 30 mev cyclotrons
V.G. Vaccaro,R. Buiano,A. D'Elia,G. De Michele,Maria Rosaria Masullo,F. Alessandria,Dario Giove,C. De Martinis,E. Di Betta,M. Mauri,A. Raino,V. Variale,Luciano Calabretta,R.J. Rush +13 more
- 01 Jan 2007
TL;DR: A 3 GHz side-coupled linac (ACLIP) has been designed to accelerate the proton energy of a 30 MeV commercial cyclotron up to 240 MeV, needed for deep protontherapy as mentioned in this paper.

A New Tuning Method for Resonant Coupling Structures
T. Clauser,A. Raino,V. Variale,C. De Martinis,Dario Giove,M. Mauri,A. D'Elia,M.R. Masullo,V. G. Vaccaro +8 more
- 16 May 2005
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a tuning of the cavities of an accelerating structure to correct the deviation of each frequency mode from its nominal value by resorting to a perturbative technique applied to a circuit model representing this kind of structures.

Study of the Dynamics in a Linac Booster for Proton Therapy in the 30-62 MeV Energy Range
V.G. Vaccaro,Maria Rosaria Masullo,S. Lanzone,T. Clauser,A. Raino,V. Variale,C. De Martinis,Dario Giove,M. Mauri +8 more
- 16 May 2005
TL;DR: In this paper, a 3GHz side-coupled linac was proposed to increase the initial proton energy up to the values required for the treatment of tumors, like the ocular ones.
