Social Network Analysis

Intrusion detection techniques are widely used to guarantee the security of people’s possessions. With the rapid development of wireless communication, device-free passive human detection based on wireless techniques may have more opportunities in intrusion detection. WiFi has been widely deployed in both public and private areas, which can be used as generalized sensors to detect human motion beyond communication. As a result, there have been several researches on WLAN-based motion detection. However, the detection accuracy of previous approaches declines significantly when people’s moving speed becomes very slow. In this paper, we explore a novel method which has a relative stable detection performance under different moving speeds. We extract a novel feature representing the fluctuation of the whole channel from channel state information at the physical layer of 802.11n wireless networks, and utilize a probability technique to detect human motion. A hidden Markov model is leveraged as the classifier to make human detection a probability problem. We implement the system using off-the-shelf WiFi devices and evaluate it in two scenarios. As indicated in the evaluation results, our approach is an appropriate method for intrusion detection.

Robust WLAN-Based Indoor Intrusion Detection Using PHY Layer Information

The goal of this paper is to present a literature study on the use of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) in Preventative Maintenance applications for Industry 4.0. Requirements for industrial applications are discussed along with a comparative of the characteristics of the existing and emerging WSN technology enablers. The design considerations inherent to WSNs becoming a tool to drive maintenance efficiencies are discussed in the context of implementations in the research literature and commercial solutions available on the market.

On the use of Wireless Sensor Networks in Preventative Maintenance for Industry 4.0

In recent times, with a rapid spark of scientific progress and development, new scientific approaches have been begun to emerge and widely spread in various fields. Currently, the neutrosophic approach is one of the most approaches considered as a precious modern approach. With the increasing popularity of the Neutrosophic approach, the development of this approach became a great trend of science that has its own rules and principles. The overwhelming spread of the neutrosophic approach in the late 20th century has provided a new trend into the debate and research. As well, it has offered a worthwhile forum and symposiums. The first touches of the neutrosophic approach and neutrosophy were provided by the American pioneer researcher Florentin Smarandache. The African researcher prof. Ahmed Salama is one of the most Arab researchers is interested in the Neutrosophic approach and he has cooperated with prof. Florentin Smarandache in many studies and symposiums. A neutrosophic approach is a special approach which connected and used in several fields. Due to the importance of the neutrosophic approach, this study sheds light on the Neutrosophic approach and lists a glimpse of common publications and studies involved which relevant to the most prominent researcher in Africa. Possible application to the virtual university is touched upon.

Wireless sensor network (WSN) is a promising technology that has attracted the interest of the research in the last decade. Security is one of the fundamental issues in sensor networks since sensor nodes are very resource constrained. An attacker may modify, insert and delete new hardware and software components to the system where a single node, a specific part of the sensing area and the whole network may become inoperable. Thus, the design of early attack detection and defense mechanisms must be carefully considered. In this chapter, we survey attacks and their defense mechanisms in WSNs. Attacks are categorized according to the related protocol layer. We also investigate the open research issues and emerging technologies on security in WSNs.

A Survey on Security in Wireless Sensor Networks: Attacks and Defense Mechanisms

Wireless sensor networks, a new generation of real-time embedded systems with limited computational power and memory that has a variety of applications, especially in cases that are not possible using traditional networks. With advances in technology, the ability of the sensor network advances as well. Given that the existing environment is unsecured, wireless connections and nodes have limited abilities and there are internal and external threats and opportunities, an attacker can use a computer system with a high ability to penetrate the network. Therefore, security in wireless sensor networks is a critical challenge. In this paper, the issue of security in wireless sensor networks is discussed.
