The distribution of stress in the vicinity of an external crack in an infinite elastic solid
M. Lowengrub,Ian N. Sneddon +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a solution of the equations of equilibrium appropriate to the application of pressure to the faces of a plane crack covering the outside of a circle in an infinite elastic body is derived.

The effect of shear on a penny-shaped crack at the interface of an elastic half-space and a rigid foundation
M. Lowengrub,Ian N. Sneddon +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors considered the problem of determining the stress field in the vicinity of a penny-shaped crack situated at the interface of an elastic half-space bonded to a rigid foundation, when the elastic solid is under shear.

A pair of coplanar cracks at the interface of two bonded dissimilar elastic half planes
TL;DR: In this paper, the stress field in the vicinity of a pair of Griffith cracks located at the interface of two bonded dissimilar elastic half planes is determined, where Fourier transforms are employed in order to reduce the problem to that of solving a simultaneous set of triple integral equations containing a trigonometric kernel.
