Electron scattering form factors for transitions between low-lying states of ${}^{24}\mathrm{Mg}$ are calculated in the symplectic shell model. It is shown that multi- $\ensuremath{\Elzxh}\ensuremath{\omega}$ correlations contribute in a very substantial but complex manner to nuclear current and charge densities. Implications for using scattering data to extract limits on contributions from subnucleonic effects are considered.

Algebraic mean field theory (AMFT) for the symplectic $\mathrm{sp}(3,R)$ algebra is used to derive collective rotational bands in the Riemann ellipsoidal approximation. AMFT is formulated in terms of symplectic density matrices that are defined by the quantum mechanical expectations of the $\mathrm{sp}(3,R)$ operators. The mean field approximation restricts the densities to a coadjoint orbit of the canonical transformation group $\mathrm{Sp}(3,R).$ For principal axis rotation, a system of three algebraic equations is derived from energy minimization on an orbit surface. The system is solved self-consistently for the axis lengths and the potential tensor.

Electron scattering and multi-shell correlations: a symplectic shell-model study

The nuclear structure of the 25 Mg nucleus was studied using the shell model and Skyrme computations. For positive parity low (energy states, inelastic electron scattering form factors, energy levels, charge density distribution, and transition probabilities) have all been determined. The SKX parameters were used with the sd shell model. The best results were obtained from HBUMSD, HBUSD, CWH, PW, and W interactions, which were calculated on sd space interactions. For positive parity states, the excitation energies and transition probabilities to the ground state 5/2 + have also been determined. The experimental data was compared to the estimated form factors, energy level diagrams, and transition probabilities. The Skyrme interaction was shown to be compatible with a shell model is used to explore nuclear structure.
