ITER safety and licensing update
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss some of the topics that remain prominent in the safety analysis of ITER, including the provision of the two safety functions, confinement of radioactive material and limitation of exposure to radiation, and some potential challenges to them are identified.

Preliminary Safety Analysis of ITER
Neill Taylor,Dennis Baker,V.R. Barabash,Sergio Ciattaglia,Joëlle Elbez-Uzan,Jean-Philippe Girard,C. Gordon,M. Iseli,Henri Maubert,Susana Reyes,L.N. Topilski +10 more
TL;DR: A comprehensive set of analyses of postulated event sequences provides the demonstration that the consequences of enveloping scenarios are well within acceptable limits, and that even for hypothetical events involving two or more independent failures, the public and environmental impacts remain limited.

Updated safety analysis of ITER
Neill Taylor,Dennis Baker,Sergio Ciattaglia,Pierre Cortes,Joëlle Elbez-Uzan,M. Iseli,Susana Reyes,Lina Rodriguez-Rodrigo,Sandrine Rosanvallon,L.N. Topilski +9 more
- 01 Oct 2011
TL;DR: New and updated accident scenario analyses have shown that design provisions are sufficient to minimize the likelihood of accidents and reduce potential consequences to a very low level and provided a stronger demonstration of the very good safety performance of the ITER design.

Progress and Challenges of the ITER TBM Program from the IO Perspective
L. Giancarli,V.R. Barabash,David Campbell,S. Chiocchio,J.J. Cordier,A. Dammann,G. Dell’Orco,Joëlle Elbez-Uzan,J.M. Fourneron,J.P. Friconneau,M. Gasparotto,M. Iseli,C.-Y. Jung,Byoung-Yoon Kim,D. TL;DR: The paper discusses the major challenges that the TBM Program will be facing in ITER such as the potential impact of the TBMs ferritic/martensitic structures on plasma operations, the approaches to tritium and contamination confinement, the required mitigation and recovery actions in case of accidents, and the assessment of the reliability aspects that could have an impact on ITER availability.

Preparation of interfaces in ITER for integrating the Test Blanket Systems
L. Giancarli,O. Bede,S. Beloglazov,M. Benchikhoune,K.P. Chang,V. Chuyanov,G. Dell’Orco,J.P. Friconneau,S. Gicquel,C. Gliss,C. Hansalia,M. Iseli,C.S. Kim,I. Kuehn,B. Levesy,F.T. Maluta,Mario Merola,R. Pascal,Laurent Patisson,G. Rigoni,Joseph Snipes,A. Tesini,I. Yonekawa +22 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the recent studies performed by the IO for the preparation of the most urgent interfaces required for the integration of the TBSs into the ITER device and Tokamak complex.
