Undoped and Eu3+-doped glaserite-type orthovanadates CsK2Gd1–xEux[VO4]2 with various Eu3+ concentrations of x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 0.9, and 1.0 were synthesized via the solid-state reaction. The formation of a single phase compound was verified through the X-ray diffraction studies. The photoluminescence (PL) and PL excitation (PLE) spectra, PL decay curves, and absolute quantum efficiency (QE) were investigated. Unlike the conventional Eu3+-doped vanadates, these Eu3+-doped samples showed not only several sharp emission lines due to Eu3+ but also a broad emission band with a maximum at 530 nm due to the [VO4]3– host. The intensities of the host and Eu3+ emissions increased when the Eu3+ concentration was increased from x = 0 to x = 0.6 and decreased above x = 0.6. Similar concentration dependence was observed for QE. Photoluminescence Properties of Eu3+-Doped Glaserite-Type Orthovanadates CsK2Gd[VO4]2

Ga-modified YAG:Pr3+ dual-mode tunable luminescence thermometers

YPO4:x mol.% Eu3+ phosphors with different dopant concentrations (x = 3, 5, 8, 11, 13) have been synthesized via high-temperature solid-state reaction. X-ray diffraction analysis and Raman and infrared (IR) spectroscopy were applied for detailed structural characterization. Under excitation at wavelength of 395 nm, the photoluminescence spectra displayed the 5D0 → 7F
 J
 (J = 1, 2, 3, 4) intra-4f shell transitions related to Eu3+ ion. The radiative lifetime was estimated using the Ω
 2 and Ω
 4 Judd–Ofelt intensity parameters. The highest luminescence intensity was achieved for an optimal europium concentration of 11 mol.%. The critical energy-transfer distance for Eu3+ ions was evaluated to be 10.74 A. We also studied the temperature-dependent photoluminescence and Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage chromaticity diagram. It was found that Eu3+-doped YPO4 exhibited good thermal stability and its emission intensity decreased slightly above room temperature. In addition, the color purity of this phosphor was as high as 91% for the YPO4:13% Eu3+ sample, making it a potential orange–red phosphor for application in ultraviolet-pumped white light-emitting diodes.

Synthesis and tunable emission studies of new up-converting Ba2GdV3O11 nanopowders doped with Yb3+/Ln3+ (Ln3+ = Er3+, Ho3+, Tm3+)

Inorganic phosphors based on monoclinic Y2WO6 doped with Eu3+ ions were prepared via conventional solid-state reactions at high temperature. A total of five samples were obtained with different Eu3+ concentrations (0–9%). The purity of the as-prepared phases was checked by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). Through the Rietveld refinement, at low concentrations Eu3+ ions are found to occupy preferentially the Y2 (2f) sites in the host compound. However, for higher dopant concentrations, the occupancy of the (2e) and (4g) sites becomes relevant. The excitation, emission, and time-resolved emission spectra were examined in detail. Efficient energy transfer from the (WO6)6− groups to the Eu3+ activators was observed. The decay curves for the Eu3+ 5D0 → 7F4 transition show a non-exponential behavior that is enhanced with increasing Eu3+ concentration. The experimental decay curves were fitted to the Inokuti–Hirayama model to gain some insight into the mechanism of the interaction between the Eu3+ ions in these phosphors.
