Acute Reduction of Anandamide-Hydrolase (FAAH) Activity is Coupled With a Reduction of Nociceptive Pathways Facilitation in Medication-Overuse Headache Subjects After Withdrawal Treatment
Armando Perrotta,Natalia Arce-Leal,Cristina Tassorelli,Valeria Gasperi,Grazia Sances,Fabio Blandini,Mariano Serrao,M. Bolla,Francesco Pierelli,Giuseppe Nappi,Mauro Maccarrone,Giorgio Sandrini +11 more
TL;DR: This work investigated a possible relationship between the functional activity of the endocannabinoid system and the facilitation of pain processing in migraineurs with medication‐overuse headache and the effect of withdrawal treatment on both.

Facilitated temporal processing of pain and defective supraspinal control of pain in cluster headache
Armando Perrotta,Mariano Serrao,Anna Ambrosini,M. Bolla,Gianluca Coppola,Giorgio Sandrini,Francesco Pierelli +6 more
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that in cluster headache, a dysfunction of the supraspinal control of pain related to the clinical activity of the disease, possibly supported by an abnormal hypothalamic function, leads to a facilitation in pain processing and a predisposition to pain attacks.

Habituation of evoked responses is greater in patients with familial hemiplegic migraine than in controls: a contrast with the common forms of migraine.
Jakob Møller Hansen,M. Bolla,Delphine Magis,V De Pasqua,Messoud Ashina,LL Thomsen,Jes Olesen,Jean Schoenen +7 more
TL;DR: FHM and the common forms of migraine are thought to belong to a spectrum of migraine phenotypes with similar pathophysiology, and it was examined whether an abnormal habituation pattern would also be found in FHM patients.

Falls, fractures and bone density in Parkinson's disease - a cross-sectional study.
Cristina Tassorelli,Mariangela Berlangieri,Simona Buscone,M. Bolla,Roberto De Icco,Alessio Baricich,Claudio Pacchetti,Carlo Cisari,Giorgio Sandrini +8 more
TL;DR: Findings confirm that falls and osteoporosis represent major health issues in PD, already in the middle stages of disease.

Enhanced temporal pain processing in multiple system atrophy
Armando Perrotta,M. Bolla,Mariano Serrao,Marco Paparatti,Cristina Tassorelli,Francesco Pierelli,Giorgio Sandrini +6 more
TL;DR: A facilitated temporal processing of pain is demonstrated in MSA subjects paralleling findings from PD, which could represent a consequence of the striatonigral neurodegeneration which in turn make these subjects more prone to develop pain conditions.
