The study aimed to determine variations in macro/microelements, nutrients and bioactive components in grain and stone-milled fractions of common and Tartary buckwheat cultivated over three consecutive years. Whole grain were milled to obtain several fractions: light flour, semolina, three or four bran fractions, and hulls. Dry matter, crude protein, crude fat, macro- and microelements, total antioxidant capacity, rutin and quercetin contents, and compounds with antioxidative potential were determined. Crude protein in buckwheat samples ranged from 2.9% to 35.7%, and crude fat from 0.2% to 10.1%. Bioactive compounds were significantly higher in Tartary buckwheat samples, especially for semolina and bran fractions. The multi-elemental compositions of these buckwheat species were comparable, while the differences between the milling fractions varied considerably for K, P, Mg, S, Fe and Zn. Principal component analysis for 20 parameters derived from 45 samples showed good discrimination for buckwheat whole grain, light flour and hulls for both species, for Tartary buckwheat bran and semolina, and for common buckwheat bran and semolina. The profiles of compounds with antioxidant potential were significantly different between the buckwheat species, as well as for hulls and bran fractions compared with the other fractions. In general, harvest year did not have any significant impact on any of the parameters analysed.

The complexity of hydrological processes, spatial and temporal variation of all effective factors and lack of essential measured filed data convinced researchers to use empirical models in various scales. The IntErO model was used to predict maximum outflow (Qmax), soil erosion intensity (W year) and sediment yield (G year) in one of the internal sub-watersheds of Shirindarreh watershed, northeast of Iran. The results showed that the peak flow was 13.51 ms for a return period of 100 years. As an internal area, the peak flow of all upstream sub-watersheds should be also considered to be added to the predicted peak flow. The value of Z coefficient of 0.696 indicated that the river basin belongs to III destruction category and the strength of the erosion process was medium, and according to the erosion type, it was intrusive erosion. The predicted gross soil erosion in the study sub-watershed was 8.06 ton ha year. The coefficient of the deposit retention (Ru) or sediment delivery ratio (SDR) was 0.124 and therefore, the sediment yield was 1.00 ton ha year. According to Gavrilovic, the study sub-watershed is a region of very weak erosion.

The adjustment of buckwheat density and sowing time in an organic growing system guarantees satisfactory productivity with better environmental quality. The objective of the study is to adjust the sowing density and the best growing season of buckwheat, comparing the organic and conventional growing system. In the study, two experiments were conducted in 2017 and 2018. Experiment one, in a randomized block design with eight replications in a 4 x 2 factorial, for sowing density (40, 80, 120 and 160 kg ha-1) and growing location (Augusto Pestana and Três de Maio, RS, Brazil), respectively. Experiment two, in a randomized block design in a 2 x 2 factorial with eight replications, for sowing time (September and December) and growing system (conventional and organic), respectively, carried out in Augusto Pestana, RS. Grain yield and other characters of agronomic interest of the species were evaluated, with means analysis and regression adjustment. The sowing density around 110 kg ha-1 brings benefits in the buckwheat growing in reaching maximum grain yield in conventional and organic systems. Sowing in September and December is possible regardless of the production system. However, grain yield is maximized under the milder temperature conditions of September. The grain yield in an organic system, although statistically inferior to the conventional one, proves to be advantageous due to the reduced variation in yield due to add value of the product without the use of pesticides and fertilizers

Common buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) is an annual plant from Polygonaceae family which is well known as pseudocereal with high nutritional value. The yield and quality of the buckwheat`s kernel depend on weather conditions, mainly due to variations in the air temperatures and precipitation during the growing period. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of some metrological parameters on yields and chemical compositions in the kernel of buckwheat. Field experiments were conducted during three years (2011, 2012 and 2013) in the village Donje Selo, near Ilijaš. In this study grain yield, protein content, sludge, fats, mineral matter, cellulose and total phenols were determined. Experimental results suggested that the weather conditions in different years of the research have a significant impact on the yield and the chemical composition of the kernel. The yield of buckwheat varied from the year to year and ranged from 0.98 to 1.29 tons per hectare.

INFLUENCE OF METEOROLOGICAL PARAMETERS ON THE YIELD AND CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF COMMON BUCKWHEAT (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench)

Extensively managed natural grasslands are predominant in Central Balkan countries (Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia) and the productivity of these communities is extremely low in general. Beside main limitations in grassland productivity, such as strongly acidic soils, organic matter fluctuations, high variability in phosphorus content, some soils were developed on bedrocks with potentially high heavy metal content. The researches were conducted in 2016 and 2017 on representative grasslands in three countries, mainly on Agrostietum capillaris type of community. There were five study sites in Montenegro, two in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and six in Serbia in mountainous region. We analysed nutritive status of the topsoil samples collected in summer in each study site, as well as possible presence of heavy metals (Ni, Cd, Pb and Cr) in the soil. The experimental fields were cut once in the time of inflorescences formation of the dominant grasses and the total concentrations of heavy metals (Pb, Ni, Cd and Cr) in the samples of plant material were determined. In all study sites soil pH was acidic, with low P content, except in a certain site in Bosnia. Generally, the soils were low productive, but according to Regulation of tolerant amount of hazardous and toxic materials in soil, there were not surpassed maximum permissible concentrations of Ni, Cd, Pb and Cr in Montenegro and Bosnia, while in some sites in Serbia very high concentrations of Ni and Cr were observed. Although some elements exceeded maximum permissible amount for soil and water, the ability of plants collected from the Agrostietum capillaris communities to accumulate heavy metals was generally low. It could be explained by the physiology of dominant plant species (grasses), which influenced relatively low uptake and generally low accumulation of micronutrients.

Matgrass (Nardus stricta) is a perennial invasive species of low forage quality. In Bosnia and Herzegovina mat-grass communities occupy up to 40% of hilly mountains grasslands and therefore are of significant economic interest. Nardus stricta is a particularly predominant species of the mat-grass associations, comprising over 70% of the sward. The rest of the botanical composition of mat-grass associations usually consists of species with low quality or even of no agricultural value. As the yield and forage quality depend on botanical composition of the sward, the aim of the research described in this paper was the identification and evaluation the botanical composition of this type of grassland. The study took place at the Rostovo mountain, 1,100 m a.s.l.. The botanical composition of the sward was recorded by the Braun-Blanquet method and species quality according to a method of Sostaric-Pisacic and Kovacevic. Results obtained showed that the Nardus stricta association is poor in botanical diversity as well as in forage quality. Only 17 species were found, and Nardus stricta comprised more than 80% of the total grass cover. Only two species were of very good forage quality (Trisetum flavescens and Plantago lanceolata) but their contribution to the sward was extremely low.
