Halal has become a universal sign for quality assurance and standard of living. The world market for halal goods and services is rising into influential energy in the pitch of world commerce and finance. Halal products industry have market share of over US$ 3 trillion annually, and rapid growth is expected in forthcoming years. The aim of this study is to survey the potential and expectations of Pakistani halal food producers, financial institutions, government, NGO’s and advisory services anticipate in promoting Pakistan halal food industry as potential halal food hub. The study suggest that Pakistan have abundant opportunities to unlock new business potentials by catering to the financial assistance, government support and NGOs services to the halal economy stakeholders. This study also explores upon the growth determinants and prospects of the Pakistan halal industry that Islamic finance institutions, government and NGOs offer to hold up businesses in the world halal industry.

Role of Islamic Financial Institutions in Promotion of Pakistan Halal Food Industry

Received: Revised: Accepted: July 09, 2014 August 14, 2014 August 24, 2014 The present study was carried out to determine the prevalence of coccidiosis in broiler chickens in district Muzaffargarh-Punjab-Pakistan. Out of 500 gut samples examined, during the months of July 2009 to June 2010, the overall prevalence found was 65%. Two hundred fecal droppings from different broiler farms were also investigated during the same period. The prevalence of coccidial infection among adult broiler chickens was 30.18% and among young broiler chickens was 65.95%. Four species of Eimeria; Eimeria tenella (40.92%), Eimeria maxima (31.38%), Eimeria mitis (18.15%) and Eimeria necatrix (9.53%) were recorded. The prevalence of Eimeria infections was highest in the month of September (73.68%), while lowest during April (47.83%). The prevalence of coccidiosis was higher at the farms where the management practices were not satisfactory particularly keeping the litter dry. A strong correlation was found between the prevalence of coccidiosis and age of the chickens. ©2014 PVJ. All rights reserved

Existence of coccidiosis and associated risk factors in broiler chickens in Southern Punjab, Pakistan.

Aim: A 6 month long study was undertaken to determine various hemato-biochemical profiles of indigenous goats (Capra hircus) in Bangladesh. Materials and methods: Blood samples were collected from goats of different ages of 5 Upazilla of Chittagong. A total of 120 goats (60 Black Bengal and 60 Jamnapari) having > 6 months of age were included. The whole blood was analyzed for hematology, and plasma and serum samples for biochemical analysis. Results: The study found higher number of RBC (million/cumm) and PCV% in the goats of age 48 months and above (18.23 ± 1.89 and 28 ± 3.2) respectively. Besides, total protein was found higher (78.9 ± 14.5g/L) in the goats of 6-24 months of age. Significant increase (p<0.01) of the number of WBC (thousand/cumm), RBC (million/cumm), PCV% was observed in Black Bengal over Jamnapari goat. In contrast, WBC, lymphocytes, RBC, PCV, ALT, and AST were significantly (p<0.01) higher in Black Bengal than Jamnapari goat; whereas, monocyte, TP, Albumin, and Urea levels were significantly (p<0.01) higher in Jamnapari than Black Bengal goats. Conclusion: The results of the present study demonstrate the normal haemato-biochemical values of two local goat breeds. Present results stated some significant variation of parameters between two goats whereas some shows no significant variation at all.

Haemato-biochemical profiles of indigenous goats (Capra hircus) at Chittagong, Bangladesh

Arsenic (As) is a colorless and tasteless naturally occurring metalloid found in water, air and soil. There are two forms of As, i.e., inorganic and organic, the former form is of serious health concern. In Pakistan, mainly in southern and central parts, the ground water level of As is very high (up to 100 μg/L) as against WHO limits (10 μg/L). In Sindh and Punjab, over 36 and 20% of population is exposed to As contamination. The population is exposed to As by poultry and animal products, drinking water, fumes, dietary sources and dust with the highest concentration in seafood, mushrooms and rice. As alters the physiology of the organs leading to various pathological disorders. This review deals with pathophysiology and clinico-histopathological, immuno-pathological and toxico-pathological effects of As in birds and mammals. © 2014 Friends Science Publishers

Toxico-pathological aspects of arsenic in birds and mammals: a review.

Se realizo el presente estudio para evaluar el efecto promotor del crecimiento de Pimpinella anisum L. (anis) en pollos de engorde en terminos de ganancia de peso corporal, peso de los organos, el consumo de alimento y conversion alimenticia (FCR). Para este proposito, cuatro niveles (0,5, 1,0, 1,5 y 2,0 gramos por kg de alimento) de anis en polvo se administraron en el pienso desde el dia 0 hasta el final del experimento (42 dias de edad). La ganancia de peso corporal, consumo de alimento y FCR fueron registrados en forma semanal. Las aves mostraron un buen rendimiento (mejor ganancia de peso, un mejor consumo de alimento y FCR) cuando el anis se alimento en dosis mas bajas, sin embargo, las aves mostraron malos resultados en los niveles mas altos de anis. Del mismo modo, se observo casi el mismo patron de peso de los organos. Este estudio sugiere que el buen efecto del anis en el rendimiento de pollos de engorde en dosis mas bajas que sugiere la necesidad adicional de experimentos de la serie para conocer los niveles de seguridad minimos de anis que se incorporaran en la racion de pollos de engorde para obtener los resultados deseados

Comparative Performance and Hemato-Biochemical Profile of Jinding Ducks in Different Production Systems of Bangladesh

Received: Revised: Accepted: December 23, 2011 March 21, 2012 April 23, 2012 This study aimed to assess the biochemical parameters of household chickens at crop and blood levels and measure the body weight. For this purpose, 350 Deshi (local) and 27 Fayoumi day old chicks were reared in 2 separate brooders within a house for 15 days. Body weight, serum total protein and calcium levels of these chicks were evaluated on day 0 and 15. After control house trial, birds were distributed among the selected households. Again, body weights and certain biochemical parameters were assessed from randomly selected birds at 60, 120 and 180 days of age. Fayoumi birds gained higher weight (P<0.001) than at control trial, whereas Deshi birds attained better weight (P<0.001) at household. Crop contents were dominated by carbohydrate. The level of crude proteins and calcium in crop contents increased along with age regardless of bird types. The average phosphorous in the crop contents was 0.3% (60 days), 2.6% (120) and 0.7% (180) regardless of bird types. Both serum total protein (P<0.05) and calcium (P<0.05) were significantly difference in between bird types at control house study. In conclusion, Deshi birds attained higher weight at household. The crude protein was below standard. Calcium and Phosphorous levels in the crop contents varied with ages, regardless of bird types. ©2012 PVJ. All rights reserved
