Persisting domination of the octupole over the quadrupole degrees of freedom and the new type of transitional nuclei: High-spin behavior of 218Ra.

TL;DR: The observation that high-spin states up to {ital I}=31{sup {minus}} have been studied in the Ra nucleus and the staggering sequence of levels of positive and negative parity persists up to highest level supports the idea that in some nuclei the high- spin excitations may primarily be dominated by deformations which do not conserve the intrinsic parity.

Experimental level densities of atomic nuclei

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that nuclei exhibit a constant-temperature level density behavior for all mass regions and at least up to the neutron threshold, and that the abundance of nuclear level densities measured with the Oslo method favors the constant temperature level density over the Fermi-gas picture.

Yrast states of 217Fr and the onset of static intrinsic reflection asymmetric shapes in the light actinide region
TL;DR: In this paper, the lightest nuclei in the actinide region 217Fr and 217Ra were found to have a static intrinsic reflection asymmetric shape and exhibited at medium angular momenta alternating positive and negative parity levels strongly coupled by E1 transitions.

Alternating parity bands in doubly odd 218Ac129 and octupole instability in the light actinide region
M. E. Debray,A. J. Kreiner,M. Davidson,J. Davidson,Daniel Hojman,Diego Martinez Santos,Vito R. Vanin,N. Schulz,M. Aïche,A. Chevallier,J. Chevallier,J. C. Sens +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the high-spin states of doubly odd 218 Ac1 129 have been investigated using in-beam α, γ and conversion electron spectroscopy techniques through the 209 Bi( 12(13) C, 3(4)n)n fusion-evaporation reactions.
