Knowledge about life satisfaction and learning experience among first-year graduate students is sparse, despite its relevance to instructional decisions, academic support, and success of students. Adequate knowledge is crucial, as it may help graduate students manage personal and professional life changes associated with graduate education. Using a convenience sample of 118 first-year traditional social work graduate students in a northeastern U.S. university the study examined associations of life satisfaction and peer support with perception of meaningfulness of learning experience, as well as associations of gender, marital status, family support and perceived stress with life satisfaction. Results suggest that receiving higher peer support was associated with perceived meaningfulness of learning experience, whereas being female, being married, having lower perceived stress, and receiving higher family support were associated with life satisfaction. Reciprocal predictive relationship between life satisfaction and perceived meaningfulness of learning experience was found. In general, findings suggest that stress and support are important variables to consider in understanding life satisfaction and learning experience of first-year traditional social work graduate students and highlight the importance of peer and family support to navigating challenges of graduate education. Most importantly, findings have implications for social work education, highlighting how instructor’s utilization of instructional approaches that facilitate peer support may help ease transition into graduate education or help prevent drop out during the first year graduate students are most vulnerable to dropping out. The Effect of Nuclear and Joint Family System on the Moral Development of Students at Elementary Level

The study attempts to investigate the factors that influence family life satisfaction (FLS) among 
parents in Malaysia. The study modeled the variable of parental involvement, family functioning, family 
resilience and time with family as independent constructs. Data for the study was gathered from nationally 
representative survey of “Family Well-Being Index” study conducted by National Population and Family 
Development Board Malaysia. Response from 2808 sampled households which involved about 1484 (52.8%) 
fathers and 1324 (47.2%) mothers of having a child aged at least 13 years old were utilized for the purpose of 
the current study. A Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed by using Analysis of Moment Structure 
(AMOS) software. The study found all the modeled independent constructs tested had a significant and direct 
influence on family life satisfaction among the respondents except for parental involvement construct. The 
findings of the study suggests that some improvement should be made for the parental involvement constructs 
which covers different aspects of family life satisfaction which will lead the measurement model be more heterogeneous.

The proliferation of social media has served as an extension of the social life of people; information seeking, socialization, and many other social needs. The study uses a sequential mixed method (quantitative and qualitative design) to examine the effects of social media dependency on marital relationships in northern Ghana. Results revealed a high dependency on social media in Ghana with serious ramifications on romantic relationships. Thus, frequent online engagement has heightened partner monitoring, suspicion, jealousy, and mistrust between couples, affecting long-term relationships’ well-being. Couples define standards/regulatory mechanisms to constrain their SNS engagement to minimize the associated effects of social media.

Exploring the Effects of Social Media on Marriages in Northern Ghana

This paper reviews the knowledge contributions of previous studies in the area of marriages and family life. The endeavor was to examine the extent of the knowledge contributions on this study area and to highlight possible research direction in line with the marriage and family life satisfaction. The review was done chronologically based on empirical and critical reviews of marriage patterns and family life. The review of empirical studies of marriage patterns and family life studies was done in two aspects: studies in Sri Lankan context and foreign context. According to the review it seemed that there is a research gap in the area of studying marriage patterns and their effects on family life satisfaction. In Sri Lankan context no any study could be found, on marriage and its effects on family life satisfaction. Because of this rationale, the review considered marriage as a major study phenomenon, which has a significant influence on the family life satisfaction and endeavored to provide a base for an empirical study on marriage and family life satisfaction in Sri Lankan context.
