Adaptive Wetting of Polydimethylsiloxane.
William S. Y. Wong,Lukas Hauer,Abhinav Naga,Anke Kaltbeitzel,Philipp Baumli,Rüdiger Berger,Maria D‘Acunzi,Doris Vollmer,Hans-Jürgen Butt +8 more
TL;DR: PDMS adapts to the presence of water by an enrichment of free oligomers at the interface and a correlated reduction in interfacial tension, which attributes the low hysteresis state, called the lubricated state, to the enrichment offree oligomer at the water–PDMS interface.
Super liquid repellent surfaces for anti-foaming and froth management
William S. Y. Wong,Abhinav Naga,Lukas Hauer,Philipp Baumli,Hoimar Bauer,Katharina I. Hegner,Maria D'Acunzi,Anke Kaltbeitzel,Hans-Jürgen Butt,Doris Vollmer +9 more
TL;DR: Wong et al. as mentioned in this paper demonstrate the efficacy of superamphiphobic surfaces for in situ defoaming and inhibition of foam growth while handling aqueous solutions and demonstrate that amphiphobic nano-protrusions directly destabilize contacting foam bubbles, which can favorably vent through air gaps warranted by a Cassie wetting state.
How Frost Forms and Grows on Lubricated Micro- and Nanostructured Surfaces
Lukas Hauer,William S. Y. Wong,Valentina Donadei,Katharina I. Hegner,Lou Kondic,Doris Vollmer +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamics of condensation frosting on micro and hierarchically structured surfaces (the latter combines micro- with nano- features) infused with lubricant, temporally and spatially resolved using laser scanning confocal microscopy.

How a water drop removes a particle from a hydrophobic surface
TL;DR: In this paper, an inverted laser scanning confocal microscope was used to image the collision between a water drop and a particle on a flat polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) surface.
Cloaking Transition of Droplets on Lubricated Brushes.
R. G. Badr,Lukas Hauer,Doris Vollmer,Friederike Schmid +3 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors studied the equilibrium properties and the wetting behavior of a simple liquid on a polymer brush, with and without the presence of lubricant by multibody Dissipative Particle Dynamics simulations.
