Management of Incidental Dural Tear During Lumbar Spine Surgery. To Suture or Not to Suture
TL;DR: The dural closure technique after ID does not seem to influence revision surgery rates due to cerebrospinal fluid leakage and its complications, and no significant difference for hospitalization time, operation time, and clinical outcome was found.

Soft Tissue Sarcomas of Childhood and Adolescence: The Prognostic Role of Tumor Size in Relation to Patient Body Size
Andrea Ferrari,Rosalba Miceli,Cristina Meazza,Elena Zaffignani,Alessandro Gronchi,Luigi Piva,Paola Collini,Marta Podda,Maura Massimino,Roberto Luksch,Graziella Cefalo,Monica Terenziani,Filippo Spreafico,Daniela Polastri,Franca Fossati-Bellani,Michela Casanova,Luigi Mariani +16 more
TL;DR: The risk associated with a given tumor size is not the same in patients of different body size, so it may be wrong to use the same 5-cm cutoff for tumor size in risk stratification.

Methylation profile in tumor and sputum samples of lung cancer patients detected by spiral computed tomography: a nested case-control study.
Rosalia Cirincione,Carla Lintas,Davide Conte,Luigi Mariani,Luca Roz,Antonio M. Vignola,Ugo Pastorino,Gabriella Sozzi +7 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that a high frequency of hypermethylation for RARβ2, p16INK4A and RASSF1A promoters is present in spiral CT‐detected tumors, whereas promoter hyperethylation of this panel of genes in uninduced sputum has a limited diagnostic value in early lung cancer detection.
SYT-SSX fusion genes and prognosis in synovial sarcoma.
A Mezzelani,Luigi Mariani,Elena Tamborini,V Agus,C Riva,S. Lo Vullo,A. Fabbri,M Stumbo,Alberto Azzarelli,Paolo G. Casali,Alessandro Gronchi,Gabriella Sozzi,M. A. Pierotti,S. Pilotti +13 more
TL;DR: A case series of 64 synovial sarcomas was characterized for the SYT-SSX fusion transcripts and statistically analysed in order to correlate molecular data with prognosis and morphology.
Is steroid receptor profile in contralateral breast cancer a marker of independence of the corresponding primary tumour
Danila Coradini,Saro Oriana,Luigi Mariani,Rosalba Miceli,Gianluigi Bresciani,Ettore Marubini,G. Di Fronzo +6 more
TL;DR: The analysis indicated that primary and CBC tend to be characterised by a similar steroid receptor profile, which may support the hypothesis of CBC as a second primary arising in a common predisposing milieu, rather than a primary-dependent contralateral lesion.
