The Hedgehog-inducible ubiquitin ligase subunit WSB-1 modulates thyroid hormone activation and PTHrP secretion in the developing growth plate.
Monica Dentice,Amitabha Bandyopadhyay,Balázs Gereben,Isabelle Callebaut,Marcelo A. Christoffolete,Brian W. Kim,Sahar Nissim,Jean-Paul Mornon,Ann Marie Zavacki,Anikó Zeöld,Luciane P. Capelo,Cyntia Curcio-Morelli,Rogerio S. Ribeiro,John W. Harney,Clifford J. Tabin,Antonio C. Bianco +15 more
TL;DR: ECSWSB-1 mediates a mechanism by which 'systemic' thyroid hormone can effect local control of the Hedgehog–PTHrP negative feedback loop and thus skeletogenesis.
β1 Adrenergic receptor is key to cold- and diet-induced thermogenesis in mice
Cintia B. Ueta,Gustavo W. Fernandes,Luciane P. Capelo,T. L. Fonseca,Flávia D.Angelo Maculan,Cecilia H. A. Gouveia,Patricia Chakur Brum,Marcelo A. Christoffolete,Marcelo Saldanha Aoki,Carmen Lucia Penteado Lancellotti,Brian W. Kim,Antonio C. Bianco,Miriam O. Ribeiro +12 more
TL;DR: The β(1) signaling pathway mediates most of the SNS stimulation of adaptive thermogenesis in brown adipose tissue, and is responsible for hypothermia during cold exposure and decreased iBAT thermal response to NE or DB infusion.
Deiodinase-mediated thyroid hormone inactivation minimizes thyroid hormone signaling in the early development of fetal skeleton
Luciane P. Capelo,Eduardo H Beber,Stephen A. Huang,Telma Maria Tenório Zorn,Antonio C. Bianco,Cecilia H. A. Gouveia +5 more
TL;DR: The reciprocal expression levels of D2 and D3 genes during early bone development along with the absence of a hypothyroidism-induced bone phenotype at this time suggest that coordinated reciprocal deiodinase expression keeps thyroid hormone signaling in bone to very low levels at this early stage of bone development.

The Thyroid Hormone Receptor β-Specific Agonist GC-1 Selectively Affects the Bone Development of Hypothyroid Rats†
Fatima R. Freitas,Luciane P. Capelo,Patrick J. O'Shea,Vanda Jorgetti,Anselmo Sigari Moriscot,Thomas S. Scanlan,Graham R. Williams,Telma Maria Tenório Zorn,Cecilia H. A. Gouveia +8 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that T3 exerts some essential effects on bone development that are mediated by TRβ1, and GC‐1 induced selective effects on bones development.

Double disruption of α2A- and α2C -adrenoceptors results in sympathetic hyperactivity and high-bone-mass phenotype
Tatiana L. Fonseca,Vanda Jorgetti,Cristiane C. Costa,Luciane P. Capelo,Ambart E. Covarrubias,Ana Carolina Bernardini Moulatlet,Marilia Bianca Cruz Grecco Teixeira,Eric Hesse,Priscilla Morethson,Eduardo H Beber,Fatima R. Freitas,Charles Chenwei Wang,Keico Okino Nonaka,Ricardo Ferraz de Oliveira,Dulce Elena Casarini,Telma Maria Tenório Zorn,Patricia Chakur Brum,Cecilia H. A. Gouveia +17 more
TL;DR: It is shown that isolated osteoclasts in culture are responsive to the selective α2‐AR agonist clonidine and to the nonspecific α‐AR antagonist phentolamine, which suggest that β2‐ AR is not the single adrenoceptor involved in bone turnover regulation and show that α1‐AR signaling also may mediate the SNS actions in the skeleton.
