Pathogenic Autoimmunity in Atherosclerosis Evolves From Initially Protective Apolipoprotein B100–Reactive CD4+ T-Regulatory Cells
Dennis Wolf,Dennis Wolf,Teresa Gerhardt,Teresa Gerhardt,Holger Winkels,Nathaly Anto Michel,Nathaly Anto Michel,Akula Bala Pramod,Akula Bala Pramod,Yanal Ghosheh,Simon Brunel,Konrad Buscher,Jacqueline Miller,Sara McArdle,Livia Baas,Kouji Kobiyama,Melanie Vassallo,Erik Ehinger,Thamotharampillai Dileepan,Amal J. Hedrick,Chris A. Benedict,Bjoern Peters,Andreas Zirlik,Alessandro Sette,Klaus Ley +36 more
TL;DR: An unexpected mixed phenotype of apoB-reactive autoimmune T cells in atherosclerosis is demonstrated and an initially protective autoimmune response against apolipoprotein B100 with a progressive derangement in clinical disease is suggested.

Inflammatory Cell Recruitment in Cardiovascular Disease.
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe receptor and ligand pairs that guide leukocyte accumulation into the atherosclerotic plaque and the infarcted myocardium, and comment on potential future medical therapies.
A DARPin targeting activated Mac-1 is a novel diagnostic tool and potential anti-inflammatory agent in myocarditis, sepsis and myocardial infarction.

Parker,Michael W. Parker,Karlheinz Peter,Philipp Diehl,Philipp Diehl,Philipp Diehl +32 more
TL;DR: In this article, a designed-ankyrin-repeat-protein (DARPin) was selected as a novel binding protein targeting and blocking the αM I-domain, an activation-specific epitope of Mac-1.
Circulating Autoantibodies Recognizing Immunodominant Epitopes From Human Apolipoprotein B Associate With Cardiometabolic Risk Factors, but Not With Atherosclerotic Disease
Timoteo Marchini,Sara Malchow,Lourdes Cáceres,Abed Al Hadi El Rabih,Sophie Hansen,T. Mwinyella,Lisa Spiga,Sven M. Piepenburg,Hauke Horstmann,Tijani Nasiru Olawale,Xiaowei Li,Lucia Sol Mitre,Mark Colin Gissler,Heiko Bugger,Andreas Zirlik,Timo Heidt,Ingo Hilgendorf,Peter Stachon,Constantin von zur Muehlen,Christoph Bode,Dennis Wolf +20 more
TL;DR: Using a novel ELISA method to detect auto-antibodies against ApoB in humans, it is shown that anti-ApoB IgG associate with cardiovascular risk factors but not with the clinical appearance of atherosclerosis, suggesting that humoral immune responses against ApiB are shaped by cardiovascular risk Factors but not disease status itself.
Immune cell temporal dynamics after myocardial infarction in the mouse heart
Lucia Sol Mitre,Sophie Hansen,X. Li,T. Mwinyella,A. Burkard,S. Heitlinger,S.-T. Aboungloko,Timoteo Marchini,Hauke Horstmann,Dennis Wolf +9 more
TL;DR: This study investigates immune cell dynamics in mouse hearts after myocardial infarction, revealing a sequential shift in leukocyte populations and an adaptive immune response involving DCs, T and B cells, and potential new targets, including NK and γ/δ T cells.
