Overactivation of S6 Kinase 1 as a Cause of Human Insulin Resistance During Increased Amino Acid Availability
Frédéric Tremblay,Michael Krebs,Luce Dombrowski,Attila Brehm,Elisabeth Bernroider,Erich Roth,Peter Nowotny,Werner Waldhäusl,André Marette,Michael Roden +9 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that overactivation of the mammalian target of rapamycin/S6 kinase 1 pathway and inhibitory serine phosphorylation of insulin receptor substrate-1 underlie the impairment of insulin action in amino acid-infused humans.

The SHP-1 protein tyrosine phosphatase negatively modulates glucose homeostasis
Marie-Julie Dubois,Sébastien Bergeron,Hyo-Jeong Kim,Hyo-Jeong Kim,Luce Dombrowski,Mylène Perreault,Bénédicte Fournès,Robert Faure,Martin Olivier,Nicole Beauchemin,Gerald I. Shulman,Gerald I. Shulman,Katherine A. Siminovitch,Jason K. Kim,André Marette +14 more
TL;DR: A novel role for SHP-1 is shown in the regulation of glucose homeostasis through modulation of insulin signaling in liver and muscle as well as hepatic insulin clearance.

Fish oil and argan oil intake differently modulate insulin resistance and glucose intolerance in a rat model of dietary-induced obesity.
Samira Samane,Samira Samane,Raymond Christon,Raymond Christon,Luce Dombrowski,Stéphane Turcotte,Zoubida Charrouf,Charles Lavigne,Emile Levy,Emile Levy,Hélène Bachelard,Hamid Amarouch,André Marette,Pierre S. Haddad,Pierre S. Haddad +14 more
TL;DR: Results strongly support the beneficial action of FO on diet-induced insulin resistance and glucose intolerance, and show for the first time that AO can improve some of the metabolic and insulin signaling abnormalities associated with HFHS feeding.

Aging alters PPARγ in rodent and human adipose tissue by modulating the balance in steroid receptor coactivator‐1
TL;DR: It is shown that aging triggers changes in the transcriptional milieu of the nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) in vWAT, which leads to a modified potential for transactivation of target genes upon ligand treatment, which suggests that strategies aimed at increasing SRC‐1 expression and recruitment to PPARγ upon aging might help improve age‐associated metabolic disorders.

Mechanism of impaired nitric oxide synthase activity in skeletal muscle of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.
TL;DR: Results show that skeletal muscle N OS activity is impaired during the progression of insulin-deficient diabetes and reduced NOS activity is associated with a decreased abundance of both nNOS and eNOS proteins, which appears to involve post-transcriptional mechanisms.
