Cloud computing is a well-known technology that provides flexible, efficient, and cost-effective IT solutions for multinationals to offer improved and enhanced quality of business services to end-users. The cloud computing paradigm is instigated from the grid and parallel computing models. It uses virtualization, server consolidation, utility computing, and other computing technologies and models for providing better IT solutions for large-scale computational data centres. It encompasses different services for supporting data storage, networking, and computing for facilities and amenities for businesses and multinational corporations. The enormous elastic on-demand cloud provisioning resources and services and datasets are processed and stored in tier-level virtualized cloud data centres operated by third-party service providers called cloud owners. The primary issue with these cloud service providers is to provide and maintain data security, privacy, and confidentiality and service availability and data support for end-users. This paper reviews, highlights, and discusses some of the common cloud computing vulnerabilities primarily related to virtualization platforms and their implementations while outsourcing services and resources to different end-users and business enterprises. We then provided blockchain-enabled solutions for virtualized cloud platforms involving both the end-users and cloud service providers (CSP) to address and solve various security and privacy-related vulnerabilities. These solutions will help the data centre industry to improve its virtualized cloud services and resource provisioning facilities. Finally, we discussed different blockchain-related implementation challenges in cloud infrastructures.

Next-Generation Blockchain-Enabled Virtualized Cloud Security Solutions: Review and Open Challenges

This paper is based on the review of cloud computing in educational field. The technology provides IT-level facilities with services-on-demand-based feature, i.e., cloud computing, one of the growing technologies in today’s era. The reason why all IT and educational societies are moving toward cloud computing is it offers such kinds of services which help to reduce the initial investment and take back the maximum output in terms of processing power, storage, and networking. But, for using cloud computing in educational society, there are two ways: First is taking services from third parties like Amazon, IBM, and so on. Second is developing our own cloud platform within the educational society by using commodity hardware or by current working systems in that society. Many educational hubs invested already on their own infrastructure instead of buying from third parties and using same services and same features without paying too much money. This paper also focuses on the how some educational societies are currently working on the cloud platform and why other schools, colleges, and universities must move toward cloud platform with proper data security assurance. To use this cloud services freely, there are some open-source platforms currently present in the market. This research is based on finding better private cloud platform for educational societies based on their performance.

Educational Cloud Framework—A Literature Review on Finding Better Private Cloud Framework for Educational Hub

—Task scheduling poses a major challenge for cloud computing environments. Task scheduling ensures cost-effective task execution and improved resource utilization. It is classified as a NP-hard problem due to its nondeterministic polynomial time nature. This characteristic motivates researchers to employ meta-heuristic algorithms. The number of cloud users and computing capabilities is leading to increased concerns about energy consumption in cloud data centers. In order to leverage cloud resources in the most energy-efficient manner while delivering real-time services to users, a viable cloud task scheduling solution is necessary. This study proposes a new deadline-aware task scheduling algorithm for cloud environments based on the Firefly Optimization Algorithm (FOA). The suggested scheduling algorithm achieves a higher level of efficiency in multiple parameters, including execution time, waiting time, resource utilization, the percentage of missed tasks, power consumption, and makespan. According to simulation results, the proposed algorithm is more effective and superior to the CSO algorithm under HP2CN and NASA workload archives.

Deadline-aware Task Scheduling for Cloud Computing using Firefly Optimization Algorithm

—With the increasing demand for remote operations and the challenges posed during the COVID-19 pandemic, industries across various sectors, including logistics, manufacturing, and education, have adopted virtual solutions. Cloud-based robot control has emerged as a viable approach for enabling safe remote operation of robots. However, along with the benefits, there are also risks associated with cloud-based robots. In this study, a secure cloud-based robot control system using a blockchain system was developed. The robot utilizes supervisory control to navigate via the internet. The communication system of the robot relies on the ThingsSentral cloud-based IoT platform; enabling communication between the user via a GUI developed using Python Tkinter and the local robot over the internet. To facilitate internet communication, the robot in this study incorporates an ESP32 microcontroller, which provides a low-cost and low-power system capable of connecting to Wi-Fi. However, cloud-based control systems are susceptible to cyberattacks, prompting the use of blockchain cybersecurity in this study to mitigate the risks. The data sent by the supervisor is stored within a private blockchain developed using Python, simultaneously being transmitted to the cloud platform. The developed security system addresses the risks associated with cloud-based robot control systems, such as data tampering and unauthorized misuse, by leveraging the Proof of Work (PoW) and hashing mechanisms.
