For distributed aperture coherent radar of general signal processing architecture, the estimating performance of time delay differences and phase differences, and the output Signal to Noise Ratio gain (oSNRg) based on cross-correlation are studied in this paper. Firstly, the signal models are proposed in Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) mode and Fully Coherent (FC) mode respectively. Then the phase ambiguity with estimating phase differences by cross-correlation is deeply analyzed, and an effective method for resolving ambiguity is proposed to estimate robustly the phase differences. Numerical examples demonstrate that when the input SNR is high enough, the coherence parameters can be estimated robustly and the oSNRg approaches the

Coherent Parameters Estimation by Cross-correlation for Distributed Aperture Fully Coherent Radar

To solve the shortcomings of the Very High Frequency (VHF) radar, such as wide beam-width, low angular resolution and weak transportability, we propose a novel distributed VHF radar which consists of two identical VHF digital array radars. The system scheme of the experimental system and the main functions of the subsystems are given in this paper. We also design the signal processing method for the real data of the distributed VHF radar. The results of the real data show that the beam width of the distributed array is much narrower than that of the sub-arrays. And the accuracy of the angle estimation is around 1/10 that of the sub-arrays. Therefore, the proposed system can reach a high angle estimation accuracy with a relatively low cost and high transportability.

Experimental system and results for distributed VHF radar

As a next generation radar system, distributed coherent aperture radar (DCAR) can effectively improve SNR and long-distance search and tracking capabilities through the combined use of flexible radar units. In this paper, the mechanism and coherent gain of DCAR to improve the target detection performance in multiple-input multiple-output mode are studied. The detection model of DCAR is established by using the scatterer targets, and the relationship between the channel correlation coefficient and the station location affecting detection performance is analyzed. The detection statistics and detector forms of DCAR are derived, and the detection probability of statistics and the equations of false alarm probability are obtained under master-slave structure and cooperative structure. The structure models are verified by numerical simulation, the influence of DCAR parameters on the detection performance is analyzed, and the spatial detection probability of the bistatic DCAR is obtained, which provide effective support for the layout of radar.

The distributed full-coherent radar (DFCR) can achieve a higher SNR (signal to noise ratio) gain by coherent synthesis of the echo from multi-part dispersed mobile radars. Thus people pay more attention to the coherent performance evaluation in DFCR. In order to evaluate the coherent performance more efficiently and accurately, this paper proposed a comprehensive evaluation method which combines the SNR and correlation coefficient to characterize the coherent performance. Simulation results verified the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A Novel Wideband Distributed Coherent Radar Performance Evaluation Method

The development of U.S.midcourse antimissile radars in introduced and the new development direction of maneuver deployment of antimissile equipments is pointed out.And then,the distributed aperture coherence-synthesizing radar(DACR) technology is presented.Its some basic concepts are also given including the overseas developing state,battle mode,working principle,technological advantages,etc.Meanwhile,the line-fed and space-fed test system for DACR and the test method are specially designed.The understanding of DACR is deepened by analyzing the result of space-fed test,while the coherence-synthesizing principle and the synthesizing algorithm are verified based on the line-fed tests under the high and the low signal noise ratio(SNR) conditions.
