Effects of nano-TiO2 on combustion and desulfurization

In order to reduce and re-utilize the ethanol fermentation residue from food waste, this study utilized residues to produce solid biomass fuel and carried out burning test by thermal gravity (TG) analysis. The results demonstrated that the residue from food waste shared the characteristic of high volatile content, high heat potential, low fixed carbon and low ash content. The burnable content was about 86.99% based on dry mass, while the heat potential was 23.06 MJ•kg-1. Lignitous coal or blind coal was adopted as the additive to improve the burning characteristic of the fermentation residue. The result for a mixture of lignitous coal and residue was better than those of blind coal with the increase of complex burning index S from 2.38E-07°C-3•min-2 to 7.99E-08°C-3•min-2, decrease of ignition point, enhancement of average burning ratio and amelioration of burning characteristic. All these provided theoretical guidance for fermentation residue utilization as the solid fuel.

TG Analysis on Burning Characteristic of Food Waste Ethanol Fermentation Residue Mixed with Coal

Circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler is a high-efficiency and clean combustion technology that has been developed rapidly in recent years. During the start process, only after the furnace temperature is heated up with fuel oil higher than the fuel feeding temperature, fuel can be fed into it, otherwise, it will easily lead to deflagration accidents in the furnace. While adding fuel too late will increase the unnecessary cost of fuel oil. There are three main methods for measuring fuel feeding temperature in the CFB boiler. The thermogravimetric analysis-derivative thermogravimetry (TG-DTG method has the problem of a large gap between the measurement results and the actual boiler fuel feeding temperature. Although the measurement results in the CFB test rig are more accurate, its procedure is more complex and costly. The method of on-site debugging and measurement has disadvantages such as high measurement cost and poor measurement repeatability. For this reason, this paper designs a simple method to measure fuel feeding temperature in CFB boiler, which has standard operability and lower test cost. The measurement results of variable fuel types were compared with the measurement results of the above three methods, which prove that the results of all samples are close to those in the actual CFB boiler with error within 40°C. It is confirmed that this method can accurately measure the CFB boiler fuel feeding temperature, which is of great significance to the operation of the CFB boiler. 

Research on the measurement method of fuel feeding temperature during circulating fluidized bed boiler's start‐up

Aimed at the quantitative analysis of pulverized coal ignition temperature, this paper presents a piecewise least squares support vector machine modeling method, where several sub-models are created according to the burning characteristics of lignite, bituminous coal, lean coal and anthracite coal etc. and the parameters of each sub-model are optimized independently. By implementing the piecewise LSSVM and the global LSSVM on coal fuel samples obtained from certain company, we find that the piecewise LSSVM behaves better than the global LSSVM on mean-square error and correlation coefficient, etc.

Effect of pyrolysis upgrading temperature on particulate matter emissions from lignite semi-char combustion

The ignition properties of seven kinds of coals are investigated by using thermogravimetry. From the TG-DTG curves, the ignition points of coals can be gained conveniently, which can qualitatively evaluate the difficulty of combustion of coals. The relations between the ignition properties and the volatile fraction, the ignition properties and active energy, the ignition properties and defined parameter ‘R’are analyzed. Compared with the results in the laboratory scale fluidized bed, the tendencies of the experimental results are uniform and even identical when the heating rate in TGA increases to an appropriate value. Therefore, experimental results in TGA can be considered as the reference in designing and operating of station boilers and other combustion devices.
