The superantigen-induced polarization of T cells in rat peripheral lymph nodes is influenced by genetic polymorphisms in the IL-4 and IL-6 gene clusters.
Ulrike Bode,Marc Lörchner,Reinhard Pabst,Kurt Wonigeit,Silke Overbeck,Lothar Rink,Joachim Hundrieser +6 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that differences in the microenvironments in LN of LEW and LEW resulted in different susceptibility to the disease, and the IL-6 and IL-4 gene clusters are involved in polarizing T cell responses in vivo.
Regulation of matrix metalloproteinase-9 during monopoiesis and zinc deficiency by chromatin remodeling.
TL;DR: In this article , the effect of differentiation and zinc deficiency on MMP-9 expression and MMP9 promoter accessibility was investigated using the acute promyelocytic cell line NB4.

Short-term zinc supplementation of zinc-deficient seniors counteracts CREMα - mediated IL-2 suppression
Bastian Robinson Baarz,Thea Laurentius,Jana Wolf,Inga Wessels,L. Cornelius Bollheimer,Lothar Rink +5 more
TL;DR: For example, this paper showed that zinc deficiency-induced decrease in IL-2 production in the elderly can be alleviated by short-term zinc supplementation and showed that an average of only 6 days of in vivo zinc supplementation to zinc-deficient seniors was sufficient to rapidly improve zinc status, reverse CREM overexpression, and counteract subsequent impaired IL2 production, and vice versa.

HLA-dependent heterogeneous T cell response to Mycoplasma arthritidis-derived superantigen (MAS).
TL;DR: Assessment of MAS-induced cytokine production in peripheral blood from patients with different rheumatic diseases and controls using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay found that higher cytokine induction was statistically correlated with the HLA-DR specificities DR4, DR7 and DR12.

Proton-pump inhibitors elevate infection rate in cardiothoracic surgery patients by influencing PMN function in vitro and in vivo
TL;DR: A negative influence of PPI on functions of polymorphonuclear cells in vitro like phagocytosis, oxidative burst, chemotaxis, and killing activity was shown, whereas formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NET)osis remained unaffected.
